Standing Wave Ratio
In radio engineering and telecommunications, standing wave ratio (SWR) is a measure of impedance matching of loads to the characteristic impedance of a transmission line or waveguide. Impedance mismatches result in standing waves along the transmission line, and SWR is defined as the ratio of the partial standing wave's amplitude at an antinode (maximum) to the amplitude at a node (minimum) along the line. The SWR is usually thought of in terms of the maximum and minimum AC voltages along the transmission line, thus called the voltage standing wave ratio or VSWR (sometimes pronounced "vizwar" ). For example, the VSWR value 1.2:1 means that an AC voltage, due to standing waves along the transmission line, will have a peak value 1.2 times that of the minimum AC voltage along that line, if the line is at least one half wavelength long. The SWR can be also defined as the ratio of the maximum amplitude to minimum amplitude of the transmission line's currents, electric field strength ...

Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009
The Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009 (Citation 2009, No. 2890; SWR) is a Statutory Instrument that regulates the production, labelling, advertising and packaging of Scotch whisky. The regulations were laid before the Parliament of the United Kingdom on 30 October 2009, and came into force on 23 November 2009. They repealed the Scotch Whisky Act 1988 and The Scotch Whisky (Northern Ireland) Order 1988. Previous legislation had only governed the way Scotch Whisky was produced; however, the Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009 also set rules for the labelling, packaging and advertising of Scotch whisky. Furthermore, the regulations also required all single malt Scotch whisky to be bottled in Scotland beginning on 23 November 2012. The Scotch Whisky Association made available a PDF file on its website with the text of the regulations, along with summarization, commentary, and explanations of certain parts of the law. Geographical indications The regulations define five legally protected g ...

Scarlet Weather Rhapsody
is the second versus fighting game in the Touhou Project, and is the spiritual successor to '' Immaterial and Missing Power'' by Twilight Frontier and Team Shanghai Alice. In the ''Touhou Project'' overall, it is labelled as the 10.5th Touhou game, though the game was first planned to be numbered 9.8. In western gaming communities, ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' is often abbreviated as SWR. Gameplay ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' stayed true to its predecessor ''Immaterial and Missing Power'' in that it retained most of the ''Immaterials basic system and moves. Projectiles are still the main attack feature, and grazing is still an effective way of evasion. In addition, ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' added the ability to fly, a different card deck system, and a weather system that deals out various handicaps. ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' also provides built-in support for multiplayer games over the internet, something that its predecessor lacks. Card deck system Expanded from the Spe ...

SWR Sound Corporation
SWR Sound Corporation was a specialist manufacturer of bass guitar amplifiers, preamps, speaker cabinets, and acoustic guitar amplifiers. History The company was founded as SWR Engineering, Inc. by its namesake, Steve W. Rabe. Rabe was known for his engineering work at Acoustic Control Corporation. After extensive research with top Los Angeles studio bassists, SWR released its first commercial product in 1984, the PB-200 hybrid tube/solid-state bass guitar amplifier. The first 5 units were manufactured by hand in a garage in the San Fernando Valley. This model soon became the SM-400. SWR then pursued development of a speaker cabinet to accompany its amps. In 1986, SWR released the Goliath, a 4 x 10" full-range speaker cabinet with a built-in horn tweeter, a first for bass cabinets. The company's name was changed to SWR Sound Corporation on 1 December 1997 as part of a restructuring plan. Rabe sold the company to accountant Daryl Paul Jamison and soon created a new company, R ...

Swissair
Swissair AG/ S.A. (German: Schweizerische Luftverkehr-AG; French: S.A. Suisse pour la Navigation Aérienne) was the national airline of Switzerland between its founding in 1931 and bankruptcy in 2002. It was formed from a merger between Balair and Ad Astra Aero (''To the Stars''). For most of its 71 years, Swissair was one of the major international airlines and known as the "Flying Bank" due to its financial stability, causing it to be regarded as a Swiss national symbol and icon. It was headquartered at Zürich Airport, Kloten. In 1997 the Swissair Group was renamed SAirGroup (although it was again renamed Swissair Group in 2001), with four subdivisions: SAirlines (to which Swissair, regional subsidiaries Crossair and Belair, and leasing subsidiary FlightLease belonged), SAirServices, SAirLogistics, and SAirRelations. By the late 1990s, Swissair was burdened by over-expansion as a result of the controversial " Hunter Strategy". The crash of Swissair Flight 111 in 1998, ...

South Wales Railway
The South Wales Railway ( cy, Rheilffordd De Cymru) was a main line railway which opened in stages from 1850, connecting the Great Western Railway from Gloucester to South Wales. It was constructed on the broad gauge. An original aspiration was to reach Fishguard to engender an Irish ferry transit and transatlantic trade, but the latter did not materialise for many years, and never became an important sector of the business. Neyland was the western terminus of the line until 1906. The company amalgamated with the Great Western Railway in 1863 and the track was converted to narrow (standard) gauge in 1873. In 1922–1923, most of the independent Welsh railways were constituents of the new enlarged Great Western Railway, enabling rationalisation and benefits of scale. Nearly all of the original main line of the South Wales Railway remains in use at present (2020). Proposals The prospectus of the South Wales Railway was issued in the summer of 1844. It proposed a railway with capital ...
