SV Algermissen 11
SV Algermissen is a German football club from the village of Algermissen, Lower Saxony near Hannover. The club was established 5 May 1911 as ''Fußball-Club Britannia Algermissen''. The name Britannia was popular among early German clubs in acknowledgment of the origins of the sport in Great Britain, but fell out of favour after World War I. On 26 December 1918 the club was renamed ''Sportverein Algermissen 11''. __TOC__ History The ''Algermissen'' side first came to note in the 1932–33 season when they took part in playoff competition in the top flight regional Oberliga Südhannover/Braunschweig. Algermissen
Algermissen is a village and a municipality in the district of Hildesheim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 12 km north of Hildesheim, and 20 km southeast of Hanover. The name of the town originates from a prominent German family who lived in the area until the Revolutions of 1848—the Algermissens were of the revolutionary party and were driven from Germany when the revolution was suppressed. The Gauliga Niedersachsen was the highest football league in the Prussian Province of Hanover and the German states of Bremen, Brunswick, Schaumburg-Lippe and Oldenburg from 1933 to 1945. Shortly after the formation of the league, the Nazis reorganised the administrative regions in Germany, and the ''Gaue'' '' Südhannover-Braunschweig'', '' Ost-Hannover'' and ''Weser-Ems'' de facto replaced the Prussian province and the German states in the region of Lower Saxony (German:''Niedersachsen''), although de jure the old states continued to exist. The DFB-Pokal ( is a German knockout football cup competition held annually by the German Football Association (DFB). Sixty-four teams participate in the competition, including all clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga. It is considered the second-most important club title in German football after the Bundesliga championship. Taking place from August until May, the winner qualifies for the DFL-Supercup and the UEFA Europa League unless the winner already qualifies for the UEFA Champions League in the Bundesliga.
