SR Merchant Navy Class 35027 Port Line
35027 ''Port Line'' was one of a batch of ten SR Merchant Navy class steam locomotives built by the Southern Region of British Railways between 1948 and 1949. Completed at Eastleigh Works in December 1948, it was named on 24 April 1950 in Southampton Docks. ''Port Line'' was shedded at Bournemouth with others of the class such as ''Canadian Pacific''. Along with the rest of the class, ''Port Line'' was rebuilt by removal of the air-smoothed casing at Eastleigh in 1957, and this rebuilding made them similar to the BR Standard class engines of the time. Two years later, it pulled the British Royal Train from Windsor to Hamworthy Junction. Last working from Weymouth in 1966, it was withdrawn at the end of steam on the Southern Region in 1967 and sent to Woodham Brothers scrapyard in Barry, South Wales. Bluebell Railway
The Bluebell Railway is an heritage line almost entirely in West Sussex in England, except for Sheffield Park which is in East Sussex. It is managed by the Bluebell Railway Preservation Society. It uses steam trains which operate between and , with intermediate stations at and . It is the first preserved standard gauge steam-operated passenger railway in the world to operate a public service. The society ran its first train on 7 August 1960, less than three years after the line from East Grinstead to Lewes had been closed by British Railways. On 23 March 2013, the Bluebell Railway started to run through to its new terminus station. At East Grinstead there is a connection to the national rail network, the first connection of the Bluebell Railway to the national network in 50 years, since the Horsted Keynes – line closed in 1963. Hamworthy is a village, parish, peninsula and suburb of Poole in Dorset, England. It is sited on a peninsula of approximately that is bordered by the town of Upton to the north, Poole Harbour to the south, Lytchett Bay to the west and Holes Bay to the east. East Lancashire Railway is a heritage railway line in North West England which runs between Heywood, Greater Manchester and Rawtenstall in Lancashire. Southall () is a large suburban county of West London, England, part of the London Borough of Ealing and is one of its seven major towns. Swanage Railway
The Swanage Railway is a railway branch line from near Wareham, Dorset to Swanage, Dorset, England, opened in 1885 and now operated as a heritage railway. The independent company which built it was amalgamated with the larger London and South Western Railway in 1886. The passenger service was withdrawn in 1972, leaving a residual freight service over part of the line handling mineral traffic. After the passenger closure, a heritage railway group revived part of the line; it too used the name ''Swanage Railway'' and now operates a line which follows the route of the former line from Wareham to Swanage with stops at Norden, Corfe Castle, Harman's Cross and Herston Halt. 35028 ''Clan Line'' is a Southern Railway rebuilt Merchant Navy 4-6-2 class locomotive. History British Rail 35028 was built at Eastleigh Works in 1948. After a few weeks running in, it was allocated first to Dover and then to Stewarts Lane shed in London, from where it worked heavy trains on the trunk routes to the South East Channel ports, frequently working the prestige expresses, '' Golden Arrow'' and the ''Night Ferry''. After rebuilding in 1959, it was initially allocated to Nine Elms shed, from where it headed such trains as the ''Bournemouth Belle'' and the '' Atlantic Coast Express''. Barry ( cy, Y Barri; ) is a town in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, on the north coast of the Bristol Channel approximately south-southwest of Cardiff.
