SR 207 (NV)
State Route 207 (SR 207) is a state highway in western Douglas County, Nevada, United States. Commonly known as the Kingsbury Grade, it is one of three Nevada highways that connect the western edge of the state to the Lake Tahoe region through the Carson Range. The route was part of State Route 19 prior to 1976. Route description SR 207 begins at a junction with U.S. Route 50 in Stateline, less than from the California state line near the southern shores of Lake Tahoe. From there, the route heads eastward on an uphill climb through the Kingsbury area to travel through Daggett Pass (elevation ). After exiting the pass, SR 207 continues its trek eastward through Toiyabe National Forest lands. It goes through several switchbacks, eventually turning southward as it descends the mountains. Stateline, Nevada
Stateline is a census-designated place (CDP) on the southeastern shore of Lake Tahoe in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. It lies next to the California state line and City of South Lake Tahoe. The population was 842 at the 2010 census. The population swells considerably during the busy winter and summer seasons, due to the high number of hotel rooms and rental accommodations available. Attractions Stateline is home to four casino resorts: Bally's Lake Tahoe (formerly Caesars and MontBleu), Harrah's Lake Tahoe, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe (formerly Horizon), and Harveys Lake Tahoe. Until its closure on April 14, 2020, the Lakeside Inn catered to locals and modest gamblers. State Route 206 (SR 206) is a state highway in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. It runs northwest from State Route 88 near the California state line along Foothill Road to Genoa, and then turns east on Genoa Lane to end at U.S. Route 395. Route description State Route 206 begins at a junction with SR 88 in Centerville, 1 mile (1.6 km) from the California state line. From there, the route heads northwest with a gradual climb through the Sheridan area to meet SR 207 near Mottsville. The route then continues north, winding along the foothills of the Carson Range until reaching the town of Genoa. South Lake Tahoe, California
South Lake Tahoe is the most populous city in El Dorado County, California, United States, in the Sierra Nevada. The city's population was 21,330 at the 2020 census, down from 21,403 at the 2010 census. The city, along the southern edge of Lake Tahoe, extends about west-southwest along U.S. Route 50, also known as Lake Tahoe Boulevard. The east end of the city, on the California–Nevada state line right next to the town of Stateline, Nevada, is mainly geared towards tourism, with T-shirt shops, restaurants, hotels, and Heavenly Mountain Resort with the Nevada casinos just across the state line in Stateline. State Route 88 (SR 88) is a north–south state highway in the Carson Valley in western Douglas County, Nevada, United States. It runs from the California state line along ''Woodfords Road'' to U.S. Route 395 in Minden. Prior to 1957, the highway existed as State Route 37. The highway continues into California as California State Route 88; both highways are closely related. Although Route 88 is a secondary route today, the highway is a historical route from when Carson Pass was a major crossing of the Sierra Nevada. Nevada's original State Routes were developed beginning in 1917 upon the creation of the Nevada Department of Highways. Route numbers were not assigned according to any particular numbering system, and sequential numbers were often scattered throughout the state. For example, while State Routes 27 and 28 were designated along highways near Lake Tahoe in northwestern Nevada, State Route 29 connected to Death Valley in central Nevada and State Route 30 was connected to Utah in northeastern Nevada. Additionally, several suffixed highways, branching from the original parent route, were also designated. The numbering of state routes was designated in state laws by the Nevada Legislature (codified in the Nevada Revised Statutes in later years); this had the side effect of many routes not being fully owned or maintained by the state. Minden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. The population was 3,001 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Douglas County and is adjacent to the town of Gardnerville. The Douglas campus of the Western Nevada College is located in Minden. History It was founded in 1906 by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Jr., who named it after the town of Minden, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which was near his father's birthplace. A large share of the first settlers were Germans. Minden was founded on company land of the Dangberg Home Ranch and Dangberg commissioned most of the town's early buildings.
