The Shan Nationalities Democratic Party ( my, ရှမ်းတိုင်းရင်းသားများ ဒီမိုကရက်တစ် ပါတီ ; Abbreviation, abbreviated SNDP), also known as the White Tiger Party or Kya Phyu Party is a political party in Myanmar (Burma). Unlike the similarly named Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD), the party prefers the ''status quo'' of 7 states and 7 regions, rather than the SNLD's preference for a federalism, federal system with 8 states. History The party was formally registered in April 2010. The party's headquarters are in South Okkalapa Township, Yangon, and its chairman is Sai Ai Pao. In the 2010 Myanmar general election, 2010 general election, the party contested seats in Shan State, Kachin State and the Mandalay Region. Shan State Hluttaw ( my, ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်လွှတ်တော်, shn, လုမ်းတႅၼ်းၽွင်းၸိုင်ႈတႆး) is the legislature of Shan State in Burma, established on February 8, 2016. It is a unicameral body, consisting of 137 members—103 elected members and 34 military representatives. As of February 2016, Sai Long Hseng of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) leads the Hluttaw. Shan State borders China (Yunnan) to the north, Laos (Louang Namtha Province, Louang Namtha and Bokeo Provinces) to the east, and Thailand (Chiang Rai Province, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai Province, Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son Provinces) to the south, and five administrative divisions of Burma (Myanmar) in the west. South Okkalapa Township
South Okkalapa Township ( my, တောင်ဥက္ကလာပ မြို့နယ် ) is located in the eastern part of Yangon. The township comprises 14 wards, and shares borders with North Okkalapa Township in the north, North Dagon Township in the east, Yankin Township in the west and Thingangyun Township in the south. South Okkalapa was one of the satellite towns established in 1959. Today, it is a firmly established part of the city, albeit with ''nominal'' access to the city's electricity grid and sewer system. Education The township has 32 primary schools, nine middle schools and five high schools. Health The North Okkalapa General Hospital, an affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Medicine 2, Yangon serves South Okkalapa as well. 2014 Burmese By-elections
General elections were held in Myanmar on 8 November 2015, with the National League for Democracy winning a supermajority of seats in the combined national parliament. Voting occurred in all constituencies, excluding seats appointed by the military, to select Members of Assembly to seats in both the upper house (the House of Nationalities) and the lower house (the House of Representatives) of the Assembly of the Union, and State and Region Hluttaws.
