SG Andernach is a German football club from the city of Andernach, Rhineland-Palatinate. The club was formed in 1999 through the merger of the football departments of SpVgg Andernach, ''BSV 1910 Andernach'', and ''DJK Boulla Andernach'' based in the earlier association between these sides going back to 1992. ''SpVgg'' was the best known of these predecessor sides, having taken part in the first division play in the Gauliga Mittelrhein and Gauliga Moselland under the Third Reich and in the Fußball-Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar after World War II. __TOC__ History SpVgg Andernach ''Spiel- und Sportverein Andernach'' was established on 30 January 1910. The 1970–71 Rheinlandliga was the 19th season of the highest amateur class of the Rhineland Football Association under the name of Amateurliga Rheinland, 1. Amateurliga Rheinland. It was a predecessor of today's Rheinlandliga. Results SpVgg Andernach became Rheinland Champion. Sportfreunde Eisbachtal represented Rhineland in the 1971 German Soccer Amateur Championship and lost in the quarterfinals against SC Jülich (Middle Rhine). The Rhineland Cup (German: ''Rheinlandpokal'') is one of the 21 regional cup competitions of German football. The winner of the competition gains entry to the first round of the German Cup. It is limited to clubs from the northern part of Rhineland-Palatinate, however, teams from the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga are not permitted to compete. It is one of two cup competitions in the state, the other being the South West Cup, which covers roughly the southern half of the state. The competition is sponsored by the Bitburger brewery and carries the name Bitburger-Verbandspokal. In the past, it was sponsored by Oddset (Sports betting) and named Oddset-Pokal. The DFB-Pokal ( is a German knockout football cup competition held annually by the German Football Association (DFB). Sixty-four teams participate in the competition, including all clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga. It is considered the second-most important club title in German football after the Bundesliga championship. Taking place from August until May, the winner qualifies for the DFL-Supercup and the UEFA Europa League unless the winner already qualifies for the UEFA Champions League in the Bundesliga. The VfB Wissen is a German association football club from the town of Wissen, Rhineland-Palatinate. The club's greatest success has been a single season spent in the tier two 2. The Amateurliga Rheinland was the highest football league in the region of the Rheinland Football Association and the third tier of the German football league system from its inception in 1952 to the formation of the Oberliga Südwest and the Verbandsliga Rheinland below it in 1978. Overview The Amateurliga Rheinland was formed in 1952 in the northern half of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Before its inception, three separate leagues operated in the area as the highest level of play. The league was a feeder league to the 2. Oberliga Südwest.
