''SGNL›05'' is an EP released by Isis which acts as an extension to their earlier full-length album '' Celestial'', as the tracks were all directly culled from the ''Celestial'' recording sessions. Frontman Aaron Turner describes them as being “part of the same whole”, separated from each other because releasing a double album for the group's first full-length may have been overbearing for listeners. Using the style he pioneered with his work in Godflesh and Jesu, Justin Broadrick reinterpreted the title track from ''Celestial'' into a new revision. It is presented on this EP as the closing track, an end to this chapter in the Isis discography considering the epic feel and experimental structure of the reworking that clearly foreshadows the direction the band would eventually take musically. The band has performed a version of the song "Celestial" live several times which fuses the original song and this remix together into a massive 16-minute rendition titled "Celestial ... Isis (sometimes stylized ISIS) was an American post-metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997 by guitarist and vocalist Aaron Turner, bassist Jeff Caxide, vocalist and electronic instrumentalist Chris Mereschuk and drummer Aaron Harris (drummer), Aaron Harris. After a demo and the EP The Mosquito Control EP, ''Mosquito Control'' were recorded by the original lineup, Mereschuk was replaced by Jay Randall in 1999, who joined the group alongside guitarist Michael Gallagher (Isis guitarist), Michael Gallagher. Jay Randall would later be replaced by guitarist and keyboardist Bryant Clifford Meyer after the recording of The Red Sea (EP), ''Red Sea''. ''Celestial'' is the debut album by American post-metal band Isis, released in 2000 by Escape Artist and Hydra Head Records. It is their third "official" solo release and first full length. A year later, Isis released '' SGNL>05'', an EP designed to act as an extension to ''Celestial''; its tracks were all directly culled from the ''Celestial'' recording sessions. ''Oceanic'' is the second full-length album by American post-metal band ISIS, released on September 17, 2002, by Ipecac Recordings. On November 4, 2014, a remastered edition was released via Hydrahead/Ipecac Recordings. Since its release, ''Oceanic'' has received critical acclaim and has been regarded as a masterpiece. On July 23, 2006, Isis performed ''Oceanic'' in its entirety at KOKO, Camden Town, London as part of the All Tomorrow's Parties curated Don't Look Back series. Matt Bayles (; born October 19, 1972) is an American record producer, mixer, engineer, and musician, based in Seattle, Washington. Bayles is known for his work with bands such as The Classic Crime, Isis, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Botch, Mastodon, Minus the Bear, Burnt by the Sun, and Norma Jean and as the keyboardist for American indie rock band Minus the Bear. Early years Bayles' career began with interning in Nashville, Tennessee. Eventually moving on to engineering country demo sessions with session musician, Bayles learned the ropes of the recording studio. After deciding Nashville wasn't the place to land, Bayles moved to Seattle, Washington. Aaron Turner
Aaron Turner (born November 5, 1977) is an American musician, singer, graphic artist, and founder of label Hydra Head Records. He is most widely known for his role as guitarist and vocalist for the post-metal bands Sumac (band), SUMAC and Isis (band), Isis, while also participating in several other bands and projects such as Old Man Gloom, Lotus Eaters (band), Lotus Eaters, Greymachine and Split Cranium, a collaboration with Jussi Lehtisalo of Finnish band Circle (Finnish band), Circle who toured with Isis in 2009. Raised in New Mexico, Turner moved to the Boston area, where he attended art school and formed Isis and Hydra Head. In June 2003, Turner moved operations of both the band and label to Los Angeles, California. Turner now resides in Vashon, WA which is also the base of operations for Hydra Head and his various other activities. Bryant Clifford Meyer
Bryant Clifford Meyer (sometimes credited as Clifford Meyer, BC Meyer, Cliff Meyer or Bryant C Meyer) is a keyboardist, guitarist and vocalist, best known for his tenure with Los Angeles, California-based post-metal band Isis. He was with the band since its debut full-length, '' Celestial'', in 2000. Previously, he was a formative member of Boston-based rock band The Gersch. He is also a member of post-rock side projects Red Sparowes, Windmills by the Ocean and a solo project named Taiga. Aaron Harris (born November 11, 1977) is an American musician and composer, best known for his career as the drummer for Los Angeles–based post-metal band Isis. He was with the band from its inception in 1997 to its dissolution in 2010. Since Isis' demise, Harris has become increasingly involved in his career as a composer and producer. His composing work has appeared in projects for A24, Warner Bros., Universal, Disney, Lionsgate, Netflix, NBC, Red Bull and Samsung, among others.
