SETL
SETL (SET Language) is a very high-level programming language based on the mathematical theory of sets. It was originally developed at the New York University (NYU) Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences in the late 1960s, by a group containing (Jack) Jacob T. Schwartz, R.B.K. Dewar, and E. Schonberg. Schwartz is credited with designing the language. Design SETL provides two basic aggregate data types: (unordered) ''sets'', and ''tuples''. The elements of sets and tuples can be of any arbitrary type, including sets and tuples themselves, except the undefined value om (sometimes capitalized: OM). ''Maps'' are provided as sets of ''pairs'' (i.e., tuples of length 2) and can have arbitrary domain and range types. Primitive operations in SETL include set membership, union, intersection, and power set construction, among others. Guido Van Rossum
Guido van Rossum (; born 31 January 1956) is a Dutch programmer. He is the creator of the Python programming language, for which he was the " benevolent dictator for life" (BDFL) until he stepped down from the position on 12 July 2018. He remained a member of the Python Steering Council through 2019, and withdrew from nominations for the 2020 election. Life and education Van Rossum was born and raised in the Netherlands, where he received a master's degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Amsterdam in 1982. He received a bronze medal in 1974 in the International Mathematical Olympiad. A list comprehension is a syntactic construct available in some programming languages for creating a list based on existing lists. It follows the form of the mathematical '' set-builder notation'' (''set comprehension'') as distinct from the use of map and filter functions.
