Sport Club Municipal Râmnicu Vâlcea (), commonly known as SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea or Râmnicu Vâlcea, is a Romanian football team from Râmnicu Vâlcea, Vâlcea County. The club is currently playing in Liga IV, after spending 12 years in the Liga II, the club was reorganized in the summer of 2017 after some financial problems. History Early years CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea was the descendant of a much greater club, Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea, founded in 1946 and dissolved in 2004. In their first year after founding they won 2004–2005 season of Liga III and were promoted for the first time ever in the Liga II, the second level of Romanian football. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS; french: Tribunal arbitral du sport, ''TAS'') is an international body established in 1984 to settle disputes related to sport through arbitration. 2011–12 Liga II
The 2011–12 Liga II was the 72nd season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The league structure had two series of 16 teams each. The first two teams in each series were promoted and the last three in each series were relegated. The season began on August 20. Teams Three of the five relegated teams from the previous Liga I season, Timișoara, Gloria Bistrița and Unirea Urziceni, did not apply for a Liga II license. The latter club was dissolved, while the first two appealed the relegation decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and did not to apply for Liga II licenses. Previously they were denied Liga I licenses for the 2011–12 season and were relegated, despite finishing on non-relegating spots. Their cases were dismissed by the CAS on July 18. The 2012–13 Liga II is the 73rd season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The 2014–15 Liga II was the 75th season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The 23 teams were divided into two series (with 12 and 11 teams, respectively). The regular season was played in a round-robin tournament. The first six teams from each series played a play-off for promotion to Liga I. The teams placed 7th to 12th played in a Relegation play-out. The first team in each series was promoted at the end of the season to the Liga I, and the teams placed below the 10th place were relegated to the Liga III. 2015–16 Liga II
The 2015–16 Liga II was the 76th season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 29 August. The 28 teams were divided in two series (with 14 teams each). The regular season was played in a round-robin tournament. The first six teams from each series played a play-off for promotion to Liga I. Because of switching to a system with just one series of 22 teams from next season, there will be 11 teams relegated from Liga II this year. After the regular season, the last two teams in each series relegated to Liga III; the last 3 teams in each play-out pool also relegated, while the 3rd placed teams in the play-out faced off in a game that determined the 11th relegated team.
