SBB-CFF-FFS RABe 520
The RABe 520 is an electric multiple unit used since 2002 by the Swiss Federal Railways. It is based on the Stadler GTW 2/8 model. Features The drive module at the middle of the train is able to develop a power of 760 kW, making it able to travel at . The RABe 520 is slightly different from the standard Stadler GTW model: it has a greater capacity, a narrower body and an increased number of doors. Service As a quite small train, the RABe 520 is used on regional and S-Bahn lines. It was first designed for the Seetalbahn line between Lenzburg and Luzern, and was also used on lines from and to both locations. The RABe 520 gradually saw use on other lines. Beinwil am See is a municipality in the district of Kulm in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. History There are traces of neolithic, Hallstatt, Roman and Alamanni settlements in or near Beinwil. However, Beinwil am See is first mentioned in 1036 as ''Beinwile''. In 1045 it was mentioned as ''Peinuuilare''. The noble von Beinwil family is first mentioned in 1153. This family was, in succession, vassals to the Lenzburg, Kyburg and Habsburgs before becoming extinct in the mid-14th Century. The family castle has disappeared. Stadler GTW
The Stadler GTW is an articulated railcar for local transport made by Stadler Rail of Switzerland. GTW stands for Gelenktriebwagen (articulated railcar). History The Biel–Täuffelen–Ins-Bahn near Bern, Switzerland was looking for a lighter train model to replace its aging fleet, so that a low floor system does not require heavy installations on the roof. Based on that requirement Stadler came up with a concept of placing most of the equipment in a central unit between the seating cars. While the BTI-Bahn tracks are meter gauge, Stadler presented the first prototype in 1995 set on standard gauge rails, and the Mittelthurgau-Bahn tested three prototypes on its standard gauge network during 1996. The Seetal railway line (german: Seetalbahn) is a (standard-gauge) railway of the Swiss Federal Railways between Lenzburg and Lucerne in Switzerland.
