SAI KZ X
The SAI KZ X was a light aircraft produced in Denmark for army co-operation duties in the early 1950s. Design and development The KZ X was a strut-braced, high-wing, two seat military observation monoplane developed from the KZ VII with a more powerful,, Continental C145 engine. Deliveries to the Danish Army began in 1952 but by the summer of that year two had already crashed. The investigations of these crashes, attributed to failure of the wooden rudder, were conducted with technical assistance from Britain's Royal Aircraft Establishment but no underlying defect in the aircraft design was uncovered. The prototype was modified with a steel-framed rudder as the KZ X Mk.2 but the KZ X was returned to service. When two more crashes took place in 1954 the type was finally withdrawn then scrapped in 1960, leaving the prototype as the only surviving example. Danmarks Flymuseum
The Danmarks Flymuseum is a museum located at Stauning Vestjylland Airport, Stauning Airport in Stauning (village), Stauning, Denmark. It has a collection of around 70 aircraft from the period 1911 until 2000. Around 60 aircraft are on display. The collection includes gliders, fighter planes and helicopters. Many are still airworthy. The collection is considered part of Military museums in Denmark, Denmark's Air Force Museum as it hosts the collection of the Royal Danish Air Force. The museum has a restoration department which restores and maintains aircraft. Stauning Airport is also home of a yearly vintage aircraft rally. Denmark. The SAI KZ VII ''Lærke'' (Danish: "Lark") was a light utility aircraft built in Denmark shortly after the Second World War. Based on the SAI KZ III air ambulance, the KZ VII was a strut-braced, high-wing monoplane of conventional design with an enclosed cabin for four seats. Fifty-six aircraft were built, and another 22 partially completed aircraft were destroyed in a factory fire in 1947. The Danish Air Force operated 10 of the type as trainers between 1950 and 1977. Flat-six
A flat-six engine, also known as a horizontally opposed-six, is a six-cylinder piston engine with three cylinders on each side of a central crankshaft. The most common type of flat-six engine is the boxer-six engine, where each pair of opposed cylinders moves inwards and outwards at the same time. The advantages of the flat-six layout are good engine balance (for reduced vibration), a low center of gravity, short length (compared with an inline-six engine) and being well suited to air-cooling. The disadvantages are a large width (which can limit the maximum steering angle when used in a front-engined car), a large intake manifold being required when a central carburetor is used, and duplication of the inlet and outlet connections for water-cooled engines.
