SAIC Motor UK
SAIC Motor Technical Centre (also known as SMTC UK) is subsidiary of the Chinese automaker SAIC Motor via SAIC Motor UK Holdings. SAIC Motor also controls MG Motor UK for sales and distribution, but is independent of the technical subsidiary. History SAIC Motor UK formed when SAIC Motor bought out MG Motor from Nanjing Automobile in 2006. SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre is a subsidiary of the SAIC holding company, and evolved from the Ricardo 2010 consultancy that was working with SAIC including devleping the Roewe models and helping production of the Rover KV6 engine in China. In 2007 it formally transferred into SMTC. In 2019 there were large scale redundancies to the technical teams as SAIC downsized the SMTC in Longbridge. The MG6 is a compact car which has been produced by Chinese manufacturer SAIC Motor under the MG marque since 2010. It is slotted slightly above the compact sedan MG GT, and the compact hatchback MG 5. First generation The first-generation MG6 was initially announced in April 2009 at the Shanghai Auto Show, as a five-door GT/fastback, and in October 2010 at Shanghai Expo, as a four-door notchback saloon model. It is derived from the Roewe 550, hence being distantly related to the Rover 75, sharing its front subframe. Rover KV6 Engine
The KV6 automotive petrol engine has a 24-valve quad-cam V6 configuration, and a pressurising variable-length intake manifold to add hot spots throughout the rev range. Variants exist in capacities. These were built initially by Rover Group, then by Powertrain Ltd (a sister company to MG Rover). KIA manufactured KV6 in Korea under licence. Production moved from the UK to China in 2005, re-designated NV6. Roewe is a vehicle marque created by the Chinese automaker SAIC Motor in 2006, focuses in luxury cars. Roewe vehicles were initially based on technology acquired from defunct British carmaker MG Rover. MG Rover Group
MG Rover Group was the last domestically owned mass-production car manufacturer in the British motor industry. The company was formed when BMW sold the car-making and engine manufacturing assets of the original Rover Group to the Phoenix Consortium in 2000.
