S14 (St. Gallen S-Bahn)
The S14 is a railway service of the St. Gallen S-Bahn that provides half-hourly service between , in the Swiss canton of Thurgau, and in southern Germany. THURBO, a joint venture of Swiss Federal Railways and the canton of Thurgau, operates the service. Operations The S14 operates every 30 minutes between and , except on Sundays when it operates hourly. In Konstanz, an hourly connection is made with a RegioExpress service to and from and . The hourly –Konstanz InterRegio 75 supplements the S14. An additional S14 operates an hourly shuttle service between Konstanz and ; this, with the regular S14 service and the IR 75, creates a 15-minute frequency between the two cities. Wil–Kreuzlingen Railway
The Wil–Kreuzlingen railway is a largely single-track standard-gauge line in northeastern Switzerland. It was built by the Mittelthurgaubahn; ''MThB''), which was a Swiss private railway based in Weinfelden. It was liquidated in 2003, including its subsidiary ''Lokoop'', and its activities and the infrastructure it owned were mainly taken over by a Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) subsidiary, Thurbo, which was originally formed as a joint venture between the MThB and the SBB. High Rhine Railway
The High Rhine Railway (german: Hochrheinbahn) is the Deutsche Bahn railway line from Basel to Singen. It is also part of the tri-national S-Bahn Basel and referenced as . It was built by the Grand Duchy of Baden State Railways as part of the Baden Mainline which followed the Rhine upstream from Mannheim to Constance (Konstanz). RegioExpress
RegioExpress (RE) is a fast regional train service in Switzerland, run by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) or other railway companies (such as TILO, BLS, tpf, transN, THURBO or RhB). It is comparable to the Regional-Express in Germany, Austria and Luxembourg. Its speed is considerably faster than regional trains at the same level, as it does not stop at all stations served by the regional trains. Nonetheless, it is slightly slower than InterRegio trains. Swiss Federal Railways describes the trains as ones that serve "rapidly into the regions". Until the 2003 timetable overhaul (December 2002 to December 2003), the RegioExpress was limited in circulation. The S-Bahn is the name of hybrid urban- suburban rail systems serving a metropolitan region in German-speaking countries. Request Stop
In public transport, a request stop, flag stop, or whistle stop is a stop or station at which buses or trains, respectively, stop only on request; that is, only if there are passengers or freight to be picked up or dropped off. In this way, stops with low passenger counts can be incorporated into a route without introducing unnecessary delay. Vehicles may also save fuel by continuing through a station when there is no need to stop. There may not always be significant savings on time if there is no one to pick up because vehicles going past a request stop may need to slow down enough to be able to stop if there are passengers waiting.
