S. Irfan Habib
Syed Irfan Habib (born 1953) is an Indian historian of science and public intellectual. He was the former Abul Kalam Azad Chair at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration. His intellectual collaboration with Dhruv Raina as historians at the National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS), New Delhi in the 1990s culminated in the publication of a series of research articles (collected as a volume titled ''Domesticating Modern Science'', 2004) on the cultural redefinition of modern science in colonial India. They also edited a volume together on Joseph Needham (''Situating the History of Science'', 1999), the section on "Science in Twentieth South and South-East Asia" for volume 7 of UNESCO's History of Mankind Project, and a reader on social history of science in India (''Social History of Science in Colonial India'', 2007). Irfan Habib
Irfan Habib (born August 10, 1931) is an Indian historian of ancient and medieval India, following the methodology of Marxist historiography in his contributions to economic history. He identifies as a Marxist and is well known for his strong stance against Communalism (South Asia), Hindutva and Islamic fundamentalism. He has authored a number of books, notably the ''Agrarian System of Mughal India, 1556–1707'', an ''Atlas of the Mughal Empire: Political and Economic Maps With Detailed Notes'', and an ''Atlas of Ancient Indian History'' (with Faiz Habib). As the general editor, he is also the driving force behind the ''A People's History of India'' series, volumes of which continue to be released. ''The Wire'' is an Indian nonprofit news and opinion website which publishes in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Urdu. It was founded in 2015 by Siddharth Varadarajan, Sidharth Bhatia, and M. K. Venu. The publication's reporters have won several national and international awards, including three Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards and the CPJ International Press Freedom Award. It has also been subject to several defamation suits by businessmen and politicians. Mani Shankar Aiyar (born 10 April 1941) is an Indian politician and former career civil servant diplomat. He is a member of the Indian National Congress Party. He represented the Mayiladuthurai constituency of Tamil Nadu in the 10th Lok Sabha, 13th Lok Sabha, and 14th Lok Sabha. He was a nominated member of parliament from Rajya Sabha.
