S.V.Narayanaswamy Rao
Shivarpatna Vasudev Rao Narayanaswamy Rao (1924–2000), popularly known as S.V.Narayanaswamy Rao, is the founder of Sree Ramaseva Mandali. S.V.Narayanaswamy Rao founded Sree Ramaseva Mandali at the age of 14 and continued to guide it till he died in the year 2000, after which his last son S. N. Varadaraj succeeded him and became the Chief Functionary of the organisation. He is also credited with grooming many prominent musicians of today. Sree Ramaseva Mandali in his memory every year conducts a National Youth Music Festival and the participants are being honoured with the S.V.Narayanaswamy Rao Award for Excellence. A National Award was also instituted in his memory by a sister organisation of the Mandali and the recipients includes Bharata Rathna M.S.Subbalakshmi and Balamurali Krishna. Sree Ramaseva Mandali
Sree Ramaseva Mandali is an 80 years old cultural organisation known for organising Indian Classical Music Festivals as part of its Rama Navami celebrations at Chamrajpet, Bangalore. The organisation was founded in the year 1939 by Sri S.V.Narayanaswamy Rao at the age of 14. Sree Ramaseva Mandali has hosted who's who of Indian classical music. Bharata Rathna M S Subbalakshmi has performed in the Ramanavami for a record 32 times. K.J. Yesudas has been performing for the past 5 decades. Some of the other veteran artistes who have performed include Chembai Vaidyanatha Bagavatar, Bismillah Khan, Bade Gulam Ali Khan, Ali Akbar Khan, L.Subramanaiam, M. Balamuralikrishna, M Vasanthakumari, D.K.Pattamal, Arraikudi Ramanuja Iyengar, Emani Shanker Shastri, Sudha Raghunathan, Ranjani Gayatri, and Bombay Jayashree. Chamrajpet
Chamrajpete is a locality in the central part of the city of Bengaluru. It is bordered by Basavanagudi, Banashankari, Chickpet and Majestic. Chamrajpete is one of the oldest areas in Bengaluru, 2.9 km. from Bangalore City Railway Station and BMTC and 37.1 km. to Kempegowda International airport. The main commercial street of Chamrajpete is the Bazar Street, the continuation of which is Bull Temple Road. Chamrajpete was founded in 1892 and the 125th anniversary was celebrated with a 3-day festival in the year 2017.
