S. T. Desai
Sunderlal Trikamlal Desai (26 January 1901 – 12 April 1992) was the 1st Chief Justice of Gujarat, serving from 1 May 1960 until his retirement on 25 January 1961. He later practiced as senior counsel in the Supreme Court of India till 1988. In 1968, he was appointed Treasurer for the Indian Commission of Jurists, a member of the International Commission of Jurists where he was instrumental in submitting the report on Right to Freedom of Movement before the ICJ. Early life Desai was born in Bombay. His father T. R. Desai died young but wrote several books on Limitation, Sale of Goods, Contract Equity and Specific Relief before that. Sunderlal was a brilliant law student and was awarded the Kinloch Forbes Gold Medal for proficiency in law at the LL. B. examination of the University of Bombay from the Government Law College, Mumbai. He then proceeded to the U.K. to become a Barrister and became a member of the Bar from the Lincoln's Inn in 1927. The Emergency (India)
The Emergency in India was a 21-month period from 1975 to 1977 when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had a state of emergency declared across the country. Officially issued by President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed under Article 352 of the Constitution because of prevailing "internal disturbance", the Emergency was in effect from 25 June 1975 to its withdrawal on 21 March 1977. The order bestowed upon the Prime Minister the authority to rule by decree, allowing elections to be cancelled and civil liberties to be suspended. For much of the Emergency, most of Gandhi's political opponents were imprisoned and the press was censored. Several other human rights violations were reported from the time, including a mass campaign for vasectomy spearheaded by her son Sanjay Gandhi. An autobiography, sometimes informally called an autobio, is a self-written account of one's own life. It is a form of biography. Fali Nariman
Fali Sam Nariman (born 10 January 1929) is an Indian jurist. He is the senior advocate to the Supreme Court of India since 1971 and was the President of the Bar Association of India from 1991 to 2010. Nariman is an internationally recognised jurist on international arbitration. He has been honored with the 19th Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2018.
