Råde is a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Karlshus. The parish of ''Raade'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The neighbouring municipalities are Rygge, Våler, Sarpsborg, and Fredrikstad. Vansjø
Vansjø is a lake in the municipalities of Moss, Råde, Rygge, Våler in Østfold county, Norway. Vansjø is part of Moss watershed (''Mossevassdraget'') stretching from Østmarka. Vansjø has four inflow rivers. The lake is fed by the Hobølelva which drains lake Sværsvann, Veidalselva which originates in Hobøl as well as Svinndalselva and Mørkelva which originate in Våler. The lake has an area of 36.9 km2 and an estimated coastline of about 250 km. Vansjø supplies drinking water in many parts of Moss region. Johannes Gerckens Bassøe
Johannes Gerckens Bassøe (23 April 1878 – 30 July 1962) was a Norwegian jurist and civil servant. He is known as the first Governor of Svalbard, assuming office in October 1925, although there had been an Acting Governor since August. Bassøe was later County governor (Norway), County Governor of List of County Governors of Troms, Troms and List of County Governors of Vestfold, Vestfold. Career Bassøe was born in Råde, and graduated from the University with the cand.jur. Degree in 1901. He had brief spells as a jurist in both Stavanger, Ålesund, Tromsø and Gjøvik before being hired as a secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Shipping and Industry in 1905. Hermund Nygård
Hermund Nygård (born 16 May 1979 in Råde, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (drums) and composer residing in Oslo, known from collaborations with musicians like Hallgeir Pedersen, Staffan William-Olsson, Anders Aarum, Steinar Raknes, Erlend Slettevoll, Magne Thormodsæter, Karin Krog, Bob Dorough and Bobby Shew, and bands like The Real Thing and Sharp9. Career Nygård is a graduate of the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (2005), where he started his own Billington Trio including fellow students Ove Alexander Billington (piano) and Andreas Amundsen (double bass). Viken (county)
Viken is a county under disestablishment in Eastern Norway that was established on 1 January 2020 by the merger of Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold with the addition of three other municipalities. Viken was controversial from the onset, with an approval rating of about 20% in the region, and the merger was resisted by all the three counties. Viken has been compared to gerrymandering. The county executive of Viken determined in 2019, before the merger had taken effect, that the county's disestablishment is its main political goal, and the formal process to dissolve Viken was initiated by the county executive in right after the 2021 Norwegian parliamentary election in which parties seeking to reverse the merger won a majority. Egil Hovland
Egil Hovland (October 18, 1924 – February 5, 2013) was a Norwegian composer. Hovland was born in RÃ¥de. He studied at the Oslo conservatory with Arild Sandvold and Bjarne Brustad, in Copenhagen with Vagn Holmboe, at Tanglewood with Aaron Copland, and in Florence with Luigi Dallapiccola. He was the organist and choir leader in Fredrikstad from 1949 until his death. His many works include two symphonies, a concerto for trumpet and strings, ''Music for Ten Instruments'', a set of variations for two pianos, and a lament for orchestra. His sacred works include a ''Norwegian Te Deum'', a Gloria, a Magnificat, and numerous works for organ, and he was one of the most noted church composers of Norway. Formannskapsdistrikt
() is the name for Norwegian local self-government districts that were legally enacted on 1 January 1838. This system of municipalities was created in a bill approved by the Parliament of Norway and signed into law by King Carl Johan on 14 January 1837. The ''formannskaps'' law, which fulfilled an express requirement of the Constitution of Norway, required that every parish ( no, prestegjeld) form a ''formannsskapsdistrikt'' (municipality) on 1 January 1838. Rygge was a municipality in Østfold county, Norway. It was merged into Moss municipality on January 1, 2020. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rygge.
