Ryze
Ryze is a social networking service designed to link business professionals, particularly new entrepreneurs. The site claims to have over 1,000,000 members in 200 countries, with over 1,000 external organizations hosting sub-networks on the site. Founded in early 2001 by Adrian Scott, it was one of the first of a new generation of social networking services and was a heavy influence on Friendster, founded by early Ryze member, Jonathan Abrams, in 2003. Adrian Scott (entrepreneur)
Adrian Scott is a social networking site founder, technology entrepreneur, investor, and film and TV actor. He is best known as founder of the social networking site Ryze in the summer of 2001, and as a founding investor in Napster. Education Scott graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at age 16 with a B.S. cum laude in Mathematics, and received his Ph.D. in Mathematics at age 20. He then taught management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a visiting scholar for a semester. He was awarded the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol's General Carl A. Spaatz Award. Napster As an angel investor, Scott put some of the first money into Napster, the influential and pioneering peer-to-peer music service. Ryze Scott started building Ryze in early 2001. Adrian Scott
Robert Adrian Scott (February 6, 1911 – December 25, 1972) was an American screenwriter and film producer. He was one of the Hollywood Ten and later blacklisted by the Hollywood movie studio bosses. Life and career Early life Scott was born in Arlington, New Jersey, the son of successful Irish Catholic parents — his father worked in middle management for the New York Telephone Company. Arlington was one of the centers of the American textile industry, a key site in the history of industrial capitalism and a hotbed of radical labor agitation. Arlington is 12 miles south of Paterson, where the 1913 strike of 25,000 silk workers brought together socialists, Wobblies, and Greenwich Village intellectuals. In 1926, when Scott was 15, 20,000 textile workers in nearby Passaic, New Jersey, closed down the mills. Jonathan Abrams is a Canadian engineer, entrepreneur, and investor. He is best known as the founder of Friendster where he worked from 2002 to 2005. He then founded Socializr, where he worked from 2005 to 2010, and Nuzzel, where he stayed from 2012 to 2018. He has invested in over 50 companies, including Docker and Instacart. He was the owner of a patent for a "System, method, and apparatus for connecting users in an online computer system based on their relationships within social networks".
