Gerda Tirén
Gerda Maria Tirén, née Rydberg (11 January 1858, Stockholm - 9 October 1928, Länna Parish, Uppland) was a Swedish painter and illustrator. She did landscapes from France and Sweden, children's portraits, and Genre art, genre scenes. Her illustrations were often featured in the magazine (Santa Claus). Biography Her father, Carl Henrik Rydberg (1820-1902) was a writer and journalist. Her mother, Emma (1820-1899), was the granddaughter of portrait painter and sculptor Jonas Forsslund. She studied at the Konstfack, Technical School in Stockholm and at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. Thanks to a scholarship, she was able to study in Paris and at the artists' colony in Grez-sur-Loing. In 1884, she married the painter, Johan Tirén, who she had met in Paris; most likely at a private art academy operated by Edvard Perséus. Jan Rydberg
Jan Rydberg (1923–2015) was a Sweden, Swedish academic who spent much of his working life at Chalmers University of Technology. He was known for his work on solvent extraction which he did while working in the Nuclear Chemistry section at Chalmers. Education He obtained his masters (MS) in Stockholm in chemistry, physics, mathematics and psychology in 1947. The topic of his thesis was "Studies of complex formation by means of a liquid-liquid distribution method." and this was defended in Stockholm in 1955, this was a thesis on the Solvent Extraction of metals using acetylacetone. His first scientific paper was on the subject of the complexes formed from thorium and acetylacetonate anions. This work was done using short-lived radioactive thorium-234 obtained from uranium-238. Johannes Rydberg
Johannes (Janne) Robert Rydberg (; 8 November 1854 – 28 December 1919) was a Swedish physicist mainly known for devising the Rydberg formula, in 1888, which is used to describe the wavelengths of photons (of visible light and other electromagnetic radiation) emitted by changes in the energy level of an electron in a hydrogen atom. Kaisu-Mirjami Rydberg
Karin Aino Mirjami (Kaisu-Mirjami) Rydberg (April 27, 1905 in Mäntsälä – August 31, 1959 in Helsinki) was a Finnish journalist, writer and politician. Politically she began her career in the Social Democratic Party, but later joined the Communist Party. Rydberg used the aliases 'Karin Alm', 'Eino Jalas' and 'Utelias'. Per Axel Rydberg
Per Axel Rydberg (July 6, 1860 – July 25, 1931) was a Swedish-born, American botanist who was the first curator of the New York Botanical Garden Herbarium. Biography Per Axel Rydberg was born in Odh, Västergötland, Sweden and emigrated to the United States in 1882. From 1884 to 1890, he taught mathematics at Luther Academy in Wahoo, Nebraska, while he studied at the University of Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (B.S. in 1891) and (M.A. in 1895). He earned his graduate degree from Columbia University (Ph.D. in 1898). Abraham Viktor Rydberg (; 18 December 182821 September 1895) was a Swedish writer and a member of the Swedish Academy, 1877–1895. In atomic physics, the Rydberg formula calculates the wavelengths of a spectral line in many chemical elements. The formula was primarily presented as a generalization of the Balmer series for all atomic electron transitions of hydrogen. A Rydberg atom is an excited atom with one or more electrons that have a very high principal quantum number, ''n''. A Rydberg molecule is an electronically excited chemical species. Electronically excited molecular states are generally quite different in character from electronically excited atomic states.
