Ryan McMahon (baseball)
Ryan Patrick McMahon (born December 14, 1994) is an American professional baseball infielder for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Amateur career McMahon attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California where he played baseball and football. The Rockies selected him in the second round, with the 42nd overall selection, of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. Professional career McMahon signed with the Rockies, forgoing his commitment to play college baseball at the University of Southern California, and made his professional debut with the Grand Junction Rockies. He spent all of 2013 there, batting .321/.402/.583 with 11 home runs and 52 RBIs in 59 games. In 2014, he played for the Asheville Tourists where he posted a .282 batting average with 18 home runs, 102 RBIs, and 46 doubles in 126 games, and in 2015, he played with the Modesto Nuts where he slashed .300/.372/.520 with 18 home runs, 75 RBIs, and 43 doubles in 132 games. Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies are an American professional baseball team based in Denver. The Rockies compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) West division. The team plays its home baseball games at Coors Field, which is located in the Lower Downtown area of Denver. It is owned by the Monfort brothers and managed by Bud Black. Asheville Tourists
The Asheville Tourists are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They are located in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville teams have played under the Tourists moniker in different leagues and classifications for over a century, with the earliest dating to 1897. The current team has played continuously in what is now known as the South Atlantic League since 1976, though it was briefly known as the High-A East in 2021. Asheville has won three South Atlantic league championships, first in 1984 and most recently in 2014. Previous Tourists teams won a total of four additional championships. The Tourists play home games at McCormick Field. The park opened in 1924, renovated in 1959, and renovated again for the 1992 season. Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Award
The Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) is an annual Major League Baseball (MLB) award given to one outstanding player in the American League and one in the National League. Since 1931, it has been awarded by the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA). Until 2020, the winners received the Kenesaw Mountain Landis Memorial Baseball Award, which became the official name of the award in 1944, in honor of the first MLB commissioner, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, who served from 1920 until his death on November 25, 1944. Starting in 2020, Landis’ name no longer appeared on the MVP trophy after the BBWAA received complaints from several former MVP winners about the late Commissioner’s role against integration of MLB. Alexander Edward Young (born September 9, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for Texas Christian University (TCU), and was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2015 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2019 with the Diamondbacks, and has also played in MLB for the Cleveland Indians / Guardians and San Francisco Giants. Amateur career Young attended Carmel High School in Mundelein, Illinois. Lucas Allen Weaver (born August 21, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals. The Cardinals selected him in the first round of the 2014 MLB draft from Florida State University (FSU), where he played college baseball for the Seminoles. A third baseman, abbreviated 3B, is the player in baseball or softball whose responsibility is to defend the area nearest to third base — the third of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The All-Star Futures Game is an annual baseball exhibition game hosted by Major League Baseball (MLB) in conjunction with the mid-summer MLB All-Star Game. A team of American League-affiliated prospects competes against a team of National League-affiliated prospects.
