Ryan Jackson (Australian Footballer)
Ryan Jackson (born 4 April 1987) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Australian Football League (AFL) between 2006 and 2008. Junior career Jackson began his football career at the Hurstbridge Junior Football Club, then moving to the Greensborough Junior Football Club, before playing under-18s football with the Northern Knights, where he was club captain in 2005. Jackson nominated for the 2005 AFL draft, but was not selected. He was subsequently taken as a rookie by Carlton (number one overall) in the 2006 Rookie Draft. AFL career He began playing for Carlton's , the Northern Bullants, in its reserves team, before winning a regular Bullants senior position in round 9 against Tasmania, with limited ground-time at first. Northern Knights Football Club
The Northern Knights is an Australian rules football club playing in the Talent League, the top statewide under-18 competition in Victoria, Australia. They are based in Preston, representing the northern suburban area of Melbourne. The Knights are one of the six original clubs set up as part of a plan by the Victorian State Football League to replace the traditional club zones with independent junior clubs. This was to help aid in player development and the process of the AFL draft, which allows U18 players the opportunity to be selected by AFL clubs. Northern Knights have had many of their players drafted into the AFL, including the first two selections in the 2007 AFL Draft, Matthew Kreuzer and Trent Cotchin, and the fifth selection in the 2008 AFL Draft, Michael Hurley. The Claremont Football Club, nicknamed Tigers, is an Australian rules football club based in Claremont, Western Australia, that currently plays in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). Its official colours are navy blue and gold. Western Region Football League
The Western Region Football League is an Australian rules football semi-professional league, based in the western suburbs of Melbourne, for both seniors and juniors. History The league was formed in 1931 as the "Footscray District Football League". During the 1950s, the VFL club Footscray was financially backing the competition, so they decided to bar clubs that were inside the zone. This resulted in six clubs leaving. More changes occurred in 1952 as the league decided that clubs had to provide an under-18 competition; this action reduced the club numbers down to twelve. The next initiative was the introduction of an under-16 competition in 1954. In 1988, the league absorbed clubs from the West Suburban Football League; and, in 2000, to reflect the fact that the league had expanded across the western suburbs, it changed its name to the Western Region Football League. The Northern Football Netball League (formerly known as the Diamond Valley Football League and later Northern Football League) is an Australian sports league based in the Diamond Valley region of suburban Melbourne, Victoria. Montmorency Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Montmorency, Victoria, currently competing in Division 1 in the Northern Football League. History The club was formed in 1924 by Harold Hodgson and was original based at Memorial park, Greensborough. In 1925 the club relocated to its current home and joined the Diamond Valley Football League where it competed until 1931 before going into recess.
