Ruth Ruth is a pop punk band formed in New York City in 1993, with the original lineup consisting of Chris Kennedy on bass/lead vocals and songwriter, Mike Lustig on guitar, and drummer Dave Snyder. Band history and the American Recordings era Initially playing gigs for free at New York City's famed Continental nightclub, their occasional shows became a residency and by the following year, Kennedy Lustig and Snyder had signed a record deal with American Recordings. Their debut 1995 album was titled ''Laughing Gallery'', which was seen with critical acclaim from those who heard it. The album was co-produced by Ted Nicely, who has produced Fugazi, Girls Against Boys and Kennedy separately. The song "Uninvited" from the album gained them some success, including alternative radio play and a few months of MTV rotation. Pop punk (or punk pop) is a rock music genre that combines elements of punk rock with power pop or pop. Samiam (band)
Samiam (pronounced "sam-I-am") is an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California, active since 1988. History Samiam was formed in late 1988 after the breakup of the Gilman club mainstay Isocracy. Their first show was in January 1989 with Christ on Parade. They released records through New Red Archives and Hopeless Records in the US and Burning Heart Records in Europe. In the mid-'90s, the band had two releases on major labels, Atlantic Records in 1994 and Ignition/Tommy Boy in 1997. This path achieved modest mainstream success; a video for "Capsized" gained considerable airplay on MTV, they performed on ''The Jon Stewart Show'' in 1994 and the single "She Found You" garnered considerable radio play in 1998. Eve's Plum was an American New York City-based rock band, active in the 1990s. The band was fronted by Colleen Fitzpatrick, who was later known by the stage name Vitamin C. Eve's Plum released two albums and seven singles on 550 Music/ Epic Records, before breaking up in 1998. Formation In 1991, Ben Kotch who played drums, and his twin brother Michael who played guitar, had been looking to start a band and needed a singer and bassist. Michael Kotch met Colleen Fitzpatrick while both were in school at New York University, she became the group's singer and together they formed the group Eve's Plum. Chris Giammalvo joined the band on bass guitar. He would later be replaced on bass by Theo Mack in 1994.
