Russia Women's National Water Polo Team
The Russia women's national water polo team represents Russia in international women's water polo competitions and friendly matches. History In the Russian Empire Water polo in Russia dates back to 1910, when the sport was included into the national water sports programme. The Shuvalov school was opened back then, featuring rules that differed from the international rules. In 1913, the first water polo tournament was played between the Shuvalov school and Moscow, with the first winning 3–2. The new sport progressed in Russia, as all swimming organizations included this sport into their programme. P. Erofeev and A. Shemansky further populized water polo by publishing brochures with rules and hints. In the Soviet Union As previously, water polo was predominant in Moscow and Leningrad (formerly known as St. Petersburg). Alexandr Gaidukov (water Polo)
Alexandr Vladimirovich Gaidukov (russian: Александр Владимирович Гайдуков; born 10 January 1974) is a Russia-Kazakhstani water polo player. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, he competed for the Kazakhstan men's national water polo team in the Water polo at the 2004 Summer Olympics, men's event. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Water Polo At The 2015 European Games
The water polo tournaments at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan were held at the Baku Aquatics Centre in the Baku Games Cluster from 12 to 21 June 2015. 16 teams competed in the men's tournament and 12 teams in the women's tournament. Water polo was not included in the earliest list of sports confirmed for the 2015 Games, as the European swimming authorities at that stage were minded not to take part. However, following negotiations with the organising authorities, a compromise was reached whereby, in 2015, these events were for junior players only - in effect, athletes between the ages of 16 and 17 for both men and women. Qualification Both of Azerbaijan's teams automatically qualify. The 2015 European Games, also known as Baku 2015 or Baku 2015 European Games ( az, Bakı 2015 Avropa Oyunları), were the inaugural edition of the European Games, an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the European Olympic Committees.
