Russell T. Davies
Stephen Russell Davies (born 27 April 1963), better known as Russell T Davies, is a Welsh screenwriter and television producer whose works include '' Queer as Folk'', '' The Second Coming'', ''Casanova'', the 2005 revival of the BBC One science fiction franchise '' Doctor Who'', '' Cucumber'', ''A Very English Scandal'', '' Years and Years'' and ''It's a Sin''. Born in Swansea, Davies had aspirations as a comic artist before focusing on being a playwright and screenwriter. After graduating from Oxford University, he joined the BBC's children's department, CBBC, in 1985 on a part-time basis and held various positions, which included creating two series, '' Dark Season'' and ''Century Falls''. He eventually left the BBC for Granada Television, and in 1994 began writing adult television drama. ''Century Falls'' is a British cross-genre series broadcast in six twenty-five-minute episodes on BBC1 in early 1993. Written by Russell T Davies, it tells the story of teenager Tess Hunter and her mother, who move to the seemingly idyllic rural village of Century Falls, only to find that it hides many powerful secrets. ''Histoire de ma vie'' (''History of My Life'') is both the memoir and autobiography of Giacomo Casanova, a famous 18th-century Italian adventurer. A previous, bowdlerized version was originally known in English as ''The Memoirs of Jacques Casanova'' (from the French ''Mémoires de Jacques Casanova'') until the original version was published between 1960 and 1962. ''Mine All Mine'' is a British television series produced by Red Production Company for ITV. It was written by Russell T Davies and starred Griff Rhys Jones. The story takes place in Swansea, Wales. Overview Rhys Jones plays Max Vivaldi, an eccentric taxi driver and family man who has gone through life believing that the land upon which the Welsh city of Swansea was built belonged to an ancestor of his and therefore Swansea technically belongs to him. This was based on the tale of the Welsh pirate Robert Edwards and his descendants' claim to real estate in Lower Manhattan, New York City. He is in possession of a document that he claims proves this to be the case, although nobody believes him. When an antiquities expert from London is dispatched to the Vivaldi home to appraise an antique telephone, the document proving Max's inheritance is authenticated as real and thus begins the process of Vivaldi attempting to exercise control over the city that is rightly his. The Second Coming (sometimes called the Second Advent or the Parousia) is a Christian (as well as Islamic and Baha'i) belief that Jesus will return again after his ascension to heaven about two thousand years ago. Canal Street is a street in Manchester city centre in North West England and the centre of Manchester's gay village. The pedestrianised street, which runs along the west side of the Rochdale Canal, is lined with gay bars and restaurants.
