Russell Senior
Russell Senior (born 18 May 1961) is a British musician and the former guitarist and violinist of the band Pulp. Senior was born and grew up in Sheffield. Whilst at University in Bath, he formed the Dada Society (also known as the New Wave Society) and appeared as the lead role in a dramatic adaptation of Kafka's ''The Trial''. He also had a band called The Bath Bankers and arranged for a gig at the University featuring his friends from Sheffield - Pulp. He obtained a 2.1 honours degree in Business Administration, and went back to Sheffield to join Pulp. During the miners' strike of 1984 he was a flying picket, taking part in industrial action including the Battle of Orgreave. Pulp Senior first met Pulp in 1980 when he reviewed a show of theirs for his fanzine, also called ''The Bath Banker''. Ladytron
Ladytron are a largely British electronic band formed in Liverpool in 1999. The group consists of Helen Marnie (lead vocals, synthesizers), Mira Aroyo (vocals, synthesizers), Daniel Hunt (synthesizers, guitar, vocals), and Reuben Wu (synthesizers). They have released six studio albums: ''604'' (2001), ''Light & Magic'' (2002), ''Witching Hour'' (2005), ''Velocifero'' (2008), ''Gravity the Seducer'' (2011) and ''Ladytron'' (2019) - the seventh, ''Time's Arrow'' is due in January 2023. Daniel Hunt
Daniel Hunt (born 25 July 1974) is an English musician, songwriter and producer. He is a founding member, principal songwriter and producer of the electronic band Ladytron. Biography Hunt met Reuben Wu in Liverpool in 1995 and formed Ladytron with him in 1999, along with Mira Aroyo and Helen Marnie. In 2003, Hunt set up the Liverpool club, Evol and subsequently collaborated in 2005 on the celebrated Korova bar in the city. In addition to the band, he also DJ's around the world both solo and with other band members. His vocals are featured in the Ladytron' songs "International Dateline" and "Versus". Hunt has produced other artists such as Christina Aguilera, Marina Gasolina and Niue, and remixed Dave Gahan, Soulwax, Placebo, Simian, Paul Weller and Blondie. The Human League
The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977. Initially an experimental electronic outfit, the group signed to Virgin Records in 1979 and later attained widespread commercial success with their third album ''Dare'' in 1981 after restructuring their lineup. The album contained four hit singles, including the UK/US number one hit " Don't You Want Me". The band received the Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act in 1982. Hiem
Hiem are an electronic dance duo from Sheffield, England, consisting of Nick "Nico" Eastwood and David "Bozz" Boswell. Career Hiem's music mixes dance, electronica, and pop. When the duo plays live, the full band includes Andrew Stenton on drums and Joe Milnes on guitar and keyboards. They have remixed for The Lovers, Pink Grease, and Norwegian duo Ost & Kjex, amongst others. Hiem have a sizeable following both from the underground dance music scene and also from the more mainstream indie kids. They have recorded live sessions for Xfm and for Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 1. Venini
Venini were a British artrock band, featuring members of Pulp and Ladytron, who were active between the years 1998 and 2001. History Guitarist and violinist Russell Senior left Pulp in 1997 and began writing and demoing songs with vocalist/lyricist Debbie Lime (real name Debbie Russell-Williams) in the Spring of 1998 Through what Senior described as "bizarre coincidences" they were able to recruit Daniel Hunt on keyboards, Nick Eastwood on bass, and Rob Barton on drums over the following months. Help The Aged (song)
"Help the Aged" is a song by British alternative rock band Pulp from their 1998 album, ''This Is Hardcore''. Written as a sarcastic reflection of Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker's ageing, the song was disliked by Pulp guitarist Russell Senior who left the band before the song's release and sought to prevent it from being released as a single. "Help the Aged" was released as the first single from ''This Is Hardcore'' in November 1997, reaching number eight in the UK. The song has since seen positive critical reception, with many critics praising the song's lyrics for their wit and compassion. Background "Help the Aged" was written as a self-deprecating reflection of Cocker's increasing age. Cocker explained at the time, "It tackles personal issues because I'm now 34 years old. Separations (album)
''Separations'' is the third studio album by English rock band Pulp, released on 19 June 1992 by Fire Records. Release and aftermath Recorded in 1989, it was belatedly released in 1992 by the independent record label Fire, having already been released in France in 1991 on Rosebud Records. The songs on the second half of the album range between electronic synthpop and experimental acid house styles, while the first half contains songs more typical of Pulp's late 80s music. The album was reissued and remastered by Fire in 2012 along with 1983's '' It'' and 1987's ''Freaks''. This re-release took several delays as the first stated release date was 8 August 2011 while the albums finally came out on 13 February 2012. An announcement in the interim stated that the albums would be remastered with new bonus tracks to be added to the track listings as well as new artwork and liner notes from music journalist Everett True.
