Rusli Zainal
Rusli Zainal (born 3 December 1957) is an Indonesian former politician convicted of corruption who served two terms as Governor of Riau between 2003 and 2013. He was also previously regent of Indragiri Hilir Regency. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2014, later reduced to 10 years, and was released on parole in 2022. Early life and education Zainal was born in a village within Mandau district, today in Indragiri Hilir Regency, on 3 December 1957. As a child, Zainal took part in the Indonesia International Quran Competition at the national level, representing Riau. He later enrolled at the University of Riau, obtaining a bachelor's degree in economics. Career After graduating, Zainal began a construction business. He was elected into Riau's provincial legislature, and in 1999 he was elected as regent of Indragiri Hilir. 2012 Pekan Olahraga Nasional or 2012 National Sports Week was a multi-sport event in Indonesia which was held in Riau from 9–20 September 2012. The previous edition was held in East Kalimantan. Thousands of athletes, officials, and journalists all across of Indonesian provinces participated to the game. Host selection Riau won the selection of 2012 Pekan Olahraga Nasional host. Countdown 365 days before PON will be started, there is an inauguration of 2012 PON countdown timer. Ismail Suko
Ismail Suko (15 June 1932 – 16 May 2011) was an Indonesian politician and civil servant. He served as a member of the People's Representative Council from 1987 to 1992, after previously serving in the provincial legislature and civil service of Riau. He had been elected as governor by legislature vote in 1985, but was forced to resign in favor of the government-selected candidate Imam Munandar. Early life and education Suko was born on 15 June 1932 in the hamlet of Muaranikum, part of in what is today Rokan Hulu Regency. He completed high school in 1955, and later obtained a diploma in economics and a degree in public administration. Corruption Eradication Commission ( id, Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi), abbreviated as KPK, is an Indonesian government agency established to prevent and fight corruption in the country. Wan Abubakar
Wan Abubakar (born 9 August 1950) is an Indonesian politician who was a member of the People's Representative Council between 2009 and 2014. He also briefly served as governor of Riau in 2008. He served as the vice governor to Rusli Zainal since 2003, and when Zainal resigned in July 2008, Abubakar was elevated to governor for the rest of his term. Early life Abubakar was born in what is today Bengkalis Regency on 9 August 1950. In 1975, he became a teacher at a Muhammadiyah-run school.
