Rune Medalen (born 13 April 1970) is a retired Norwegian football striker. A first cousin of Linda Medalen, he went from third-tier Ålgård FK in 1992 to being Bryne FK's top goalscorer in 1993 and securing a contract with Viking FK in 1994. Ålgård Fotballklubb is a men's football club located in Ålgård, Norway that was founded in 1915. Ålgård played in Hovedserien, then the highest division in Norway, for several years after World War II. The club has been playing mainly at the third tier level, and was last promoted to 2. divisjon in 2002. In Rogaland, Ålgård has one of the largest groups of participants in the sport of football in the clubs and has many teams in the youth league. The available talent keeps the club in 2. divisjon. History Bryne has played a total of 17 seasons in the top flight of Norwegian football since their debut in 1976. They had their longest spell of 13 consecutive top tier seasons from 1976 until 1988. Their last stint in the top divisions lasted four seasons from 2000 until the 2003 season, when Bryne, coached by Swede Reine Almqvist, were relegated in the final round of the 2003 Tippeligaen. Linda Medalen
Linda Medalen (born 17 June 1965) is a former Norwegian footballer. She is one of Norway's most celebrated former footballers, finishing her international career with 152 caps, scoring 64 goals. She was on the Norway team that won the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup. She played most of her career in Norway with Asker Fotball, and retired in 2006, at 41 years old. She also spent seven seasons in Japan with Nikko. She started her career as a striker, but as her career progressed, she moved further back on the field, and was playing toward the end of her career in central defence. Apart from playing football, Medalen worked as a police officer. In 2007, she was elected to serve as a local politician in Asker municipality council for the Conservative Party.
