Rune Factory
is a franchise of fantasy role-playing simulation games created by Yoshifumi Hashimoto, and primarily published by Marvelous. The games are developed by Hashimoto's studio Hakama, taking over from Neverland after they ceased operations in 2013. The series began as a spin-off to Marvelous' flagship franchise ''Story of Seasons'' (formerly ''Harvest Moon''). The ''Story of Seasons'' references were subsequently dropped starting with the second installment, in order to become its own series. With the first game published in 2006, the property consists of five main-series games, two spin-off titles and numerous manga adaptations. ''Rune Factory'' retains the farming and social simulation portions of the ''Story of Seasons'' games, but integrates it into a fantasy setting and introduces dungeon crawling elements into the core gameplay. Neverland (company)
was a Japanese video game developer founded on May 7, 1993. It has developed games for Super NES, Dreamcast, GameCube, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Color, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3 and the Wii. The most notable games this company developed were part of the ''Lufia'' and ''Rune Factory'' series of video games. In November 2013, the company announced that it would cease operations and file for bankruptcy. The following year, many former members of the studio were hired by Marvelous, who had published many of their previous games. Rune Factory 5
is a role-playing simulation video game developed and published by Marvelous. The first entry in the ''Rune Factory'' series since 2012's ''Rune Factory 4'', it was released for the Nintendo Switch in Japan in May 2021 and worldwide by Xseed Games in 2022, including a Windows port. Plot A hero loses their memory and ends up joining SEED, a group of rangers operating in the small town of Rigbarth. The hero is encouraged to tend the land and complete tasks for the townspeople, as well as battle monsters in order to maintain the peace. Players control a male or female character named Ares and Alice by default, although they are able to freely rename them. Gameplay As with previous games in the series, gameplay features the ability to farm and tame monsters. ''Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon'' is a 2009 simulation role-playing video game developed by Neverland for the Nintendo DS. It was published in Japan by Marvelous Entertainment, in North America by Natsume in 2010, and in Europe by Rising Star Games in 2011. It is the fourth game in the ''Rune Factory'' series. A remaster, ''Rune Factory 3 Special'', will be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2023. Rune Factory Frontier
is a simulation action role-playing video game developed by Neverland and published by Marvelous Entertainment in Japan, Xseed Games in North America, and Rising Star Games in Europe for the Wii. It is the third game in the ''Rune Factory'' series. Plot ''Frontier'' begins with Raguna searching for a missing girl, Mist, who has moved to a new town because someone is calling to her in her dreams. Raguna moves into the town as well, living in the house next to her with a field. Then Raguna finds out that the whale island in the sky is in danger of falling on the town. Somehow Mist and another girl named Iris's fates are tied with the whale's. He then starts to fight monsters in the dungeons and slowly make a living in Trampoli. It was published in Japan, North America and the PAL regions by Marvelous Entertainment, Natsume and Rising Star Games respectively for the Nintendo DS.
