''Run, Cougar, Run'' is a 1972 American Western film directed by Jerome Courtland and written by Louis Pelletier. The film stars Stuart Whitman, Frank Aletter, Lonny Chapman, Douglas Fowley, Harry Carey, Jr. and Alfonso Arau. The film was released on October 18, 1972, by Buena Vista Distribution. Plot Set in Utah, the film tells the story of a cougar whose mate has been killed by a hunter. Jerome Courtland
Jerome Courtland (December 27, 1926 – March 1, 2012) was an American actor, director and producer. He acted in films in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, and in television in the 1950s and 1960s. Courtland also appeared on Broadway in the musical ''Flahooley'' in the early 1950s. He directed and produced television series in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He served in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Biography Actor Jerome "Jerry" Courtland was born Courtland Jourolmon Jr. on December 27, 1926 in Knoxville, Tennessee. At 17, he attended a Hollywood party with his mother, a professional singer. A chance meeting with director Charles Vidor led to a screen test at Columbia Pictures and a seven-year contract. Castle Valley is a town in Grand County, Utah, United States. The population was 319 at the 2010 census. The town is approximately 16 miles northeast of Moab, near State Route 128. The community was named for castle-like rock formations near the town site. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 8.1 square miles (20.9 km2), all land. Terry Gilkyson
Terry Gilkyson (June 17, 1916 — October 15, 1999) was an American folk singer and songwriter. Biography Gilkyson was born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from St. George's School in Middletown, Rhode Island in 1935. By his early twenties, he had become a worker on a ranch in Tucson, Arizona, then joined the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. In 1947, he married Jane Haughton and moved to California to pursue a career as a folk singer. He wrote and recorded "The Cry of the Wild Goose", which became a hit song for Frankie Laine in 1950, as well as the 1953 hit song " Tell Me a Story" recorded by Jimmy Boyd and Laine.
