Ruins (black Metal Band)
Ruins is an Australian black metal band, based in Hobart, Tasmania. The band was formed somewhere between 2000 and 2002 by Alex Pope (formerly of Sea Scouts) and Dave Haley (The Amenta, Blood Duster and Psycroptic). Recording Ruins began as a recording project, featuring Pope supplying vocals, guitar and bass, with Haley on drums. It has been incorrectly reported that Haley is merely a session player in the band, and he has publicly dismissed such views as nonsense. The band consists of two core-members used on recordings, with extra live members added for shows, similar to Norwegian black metal band, Satyricon. Initial recordings were intended for demo purposes only, but were decided later to be of sufficient quality for public use. Immortal (band)
Immortal is a Norwegian black metal band from Bergen. The group was founded in 1991 by frontman and guitarist Abbath Doom Occulta (Olve Eikemo) and guitarist Demonaz Doom Occulta (Harald Nævdal). The pair worked with various drummers (including Grim, Armagedda and Hellhammer), and were later joined by former drummer Horgh (Reidar Horghagen) in 1996. In March 2015, long-serving member Abbath announced his departure from the group following a dispute with the other members of the band, and he went on to form a new band under his name called Abbath. It was initially reported that following Abbath's departure, the band would split up. However, In August 2015, Demonaz and Horgh said that the band would continue without Abbath. Blood Duster
Blood Duster was an Australian extreme metal and stoner rock band from Melbourne. Their name came from the song "Blood Duster" by John Zorn, from the 1989 album '' Naked City''. History Formation The band was formed in 1991 by Jason Fuller (aka Jason PC) (bass), Anonymous (vocals and guitar), and Andrew Brown (drums). After completion of their first demo, Anonymous resigned and was replaced by Troy Darlington and Callum Wilson. A self-released demo recording in 1992 was titled ''Menstrual Soup''. By the time the band recorded their first EP, Wilson and Darlington had been replaced by Tony Forde, Shane Rout, and Brad Johnston. Thrall (metal Band)
Thrall (formerly known as Thy Plagues) is an Australian black metal band formed in Hobart, Tasmania. They are signed to Moribund Records. Early work and Away from the Haunts of Men Thrall began as Tom Void's solo, drum-machine black metal project in 2005. In this guise, a demo titled Wrath Eternal – a reverb-soaked, Leviathan-esque four-track recording, limited to only 20 CD-R copies – was released. Void recruited Em Støy to provide a bass accompaniment to the drum machine for live shows. For their first album, '' Away from the Haunts of Men'', Tom Void played all instruments, and programmed the drums. When recording the first album, the decision was made to change the band name to Thrall. Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1991. Satyr and Frost have been the band's core members since 1993. The band's first three albums typify the Norwegian black metal style. Since its fourth album in 1999, the band has strayed from this style and included elements of traditional heavy metal in their sound. ''Sea Scouts'' were a noise rock band, based in Hobart, Tasmania. Biography First incarnation Following the split of his former band Mouth in 1994, Tasmanian musician Tim Evans began jamming with U.F.O. (Unlimited Friendly Objective) frontman Zach von Bamburger. Fusing the elements of thick, rough analogue guitar noise and hidden melodies, also aided by a drum machine, the duo recorded the ''$100,000 Dollar Mamal'' (sic) EP. Vocal and instrumental duties were shared by the duo on the polycarbonate-only pressing, as they were in live shows. Live shows were often chaotic affairs marked by loud feedback, repetitive rhythms and heavily distorted bass riffs. Shortly after the release of the EP, Monika Fikerle became the band's drummer. Idiosyncratic, but contumelious with the band's minimal yet full sound, Fikerle played her kit with a complete absence of snare drum.
