Pig Destroyer is an American grindcore band formed in 1997 in Alexandria, Virginia. The band was formed by vocalist J. R. Hayes, guitarist Scott Hull and drummer John Evans. Pig Destroyer is one of the most well-known grindcore bands due to Hayes' poetic lyrics, Hull's incorporation of thrash metal, doom metal and punk influences in songwriting, and Evans' technical drum work. History The band formed in 1997 after the break-up of a short-lived political hardcore band, Treblinka, with 2 former members of said band, vocalist J. R. Scott Hull (musician)
Scott Hull (born March 4, 1971) is an American grindcore musician, and the current guitarist and producer for Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, and Japanese Torture Comedy Hour. He has been part of many other projects including the controversial band Anal Cunt (also known as AC or AxCx). Aside from his music works, he currently works as a government computer specialist. Hull is noted for his experimental style of guitar playing that incorporates various influences, as well as for his use of Eight string guitar, eight string and seven string guitars. ''Painter of Dead Girls'' is a compilation album by the grindcore band Pig Destroyer. It features songs from their Gnob and Benümb splits as well as a cover of the Helmet song " In the Meantime". J. R. Hayes once said that he did not remember the lyrics to the first seven tracks, and that he could not decipher them. Said lyrics have now been found and are available online. Benümb
Benümb was an American grindcore band from Millbrae, California. Biography Formed in 1994 in Oakland, California, Benümb became known within the local hardcore community as a respected grindcore band. The band went through various lineup changes during their early years. After playing together for almost a year, a split 7-inch with Short Hate Temper was released in mid-1995 on the Same Day label. Benümb spent the next year and a half playing shows with bands including Man is the Bastard, Spazz, Exhumed, Dystopia and Capitalist Casualties, among others. In 1997 the band recorded and released numerous 7-inch records, including splits with Dukes of Hazzard and Apartment 213. Their live set at the "Fiesta Grande" festival was recorded and released as part of the ''Fiesta Comes Alive!'' LP on Slap-a-Ham Records. Surround sound is a technique for enriching the fidelity and depth of sound reproduction by using multiple audio channels from speakers that surround the listener ( surround channels). Terrifyer
''Terrifyer'' is the third studio album by American grindcore band Pig Destroyer. It was released in 2004 by Relapse Records. The album includes a second disc recorded in DVD-Audio and mixed with 5.1 surround sound. The disc contains the band's near-40 minute sludge metal song "Natasha". The Japanese release of ''Terrifyer'' includes four bonus tracks and "Natasha" as a second CD instead of a DVD. "Natasha" was reissued on a regular CD as a separate release in 2008. The album booklet features a six-page story of how Natasha became the "Terrifyer". Some copies of ''Terrifyer'' were released with a slip of paper on the cover to hide the artwork. In 2017, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked ''Terrifyer'' as 88th on their list of "The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time". The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Dillinger Escape Plan is an American metalcore band. The band was formed in 1997 in Morris Plains, New Jersey by guitarist Ben Weinman, bassist Adam Doll, vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, and drummer Chris Pennie. The band's use of Consonance and dissonance, dissonance, odd time signatures, polyrhythms and unconventional drum patterns became a staple of their sound, although later albums incorporated more melody, and influences from a range of genres. High on Fire is an American heavy metal band from Oakland, California, that was formed in 1998. Matt Pike, the band's frontman and founder, also plays guitar for Sleep. High on Fire won the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance with their song "Electric Messiah".
