Ruhul Kabir Rizvi
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed is a Bangladeshi politician who is currently serving as a senior joint secretary general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He is also the office secretary and acting as a spokesperson of the BNP's central office located at Naya Paltan in Dhaka. Early life Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed was born in Kurigram District. He completed higher secondary education from Rajshahi College and obtained LL.B. degree from Department of Law, University of Rajshahi. Career Rizvi entered students politics through an organization named "Leftist Revolutionary Student Union". Bangladesh Nationalist Party
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল, Bangladesh Jātīyotābādī Dol; BNP) is a centre-right to right-wing nationalist, political party in Bangladesh and one of the major political parties of Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by former Bangladeshi President Ziaur Rahman after the Presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting the people with a nationalist ideology. Since then, the BNP won the second, fifth, sixth and eighth national elections and two Presidential elections in 1978 and 1981. The party also holds the record of being the largest opposition in the history of parliamentary elections of the country, with 116 seats in the seventh national election of June 1996. Kurigram District
Kurigram District ( bn, কুড়িগ্রাম) is a district of Bangladesh in the Rangpur Division. The district is located in northern Bangladesh along the country's border with India. Under Indian rule, the area was organized as a mahakuma and was not established as a district until 1984. Etymology The name "Kurigram" is derived from the words ''Kuri'' and ''Gram''. ''Kuri'' means "twenty" and ''Gram'' means "village" in Kol, a Munda language formerly spoken in the district. History The region has historically been viewed as a part of Gaurabardhan (today Mahasthangarh) or Kamrup (today Assam). When the Kamrup kingdom was divided into many small kingdoms, the northern half of the Kurigram area was controlled by the new polity Cooch Behar, while the southern half became a part of the Uari kingdom. Paltan
Paltan is a thana (precinct) of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It is often said to be the center of Dhaka, dividing "Old Dhaka" and "New Dhaka". Paltan was made a thana in 2005 by then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Paltan Thana was formed on 27 June 2005 comprising part of Motijheel thana. History The name Paltan came from a cantonment of the British East India Company. The name was derived from the English word platoon, but in reality a size of battalion or regiment. Starting from Gulistan area, Purana Paltan, Purana Paltan Lane, Naya Paltan, Topkhana and up to Fulbaria rail-line, it was the cantonment of the East India Company and there were Artillery forces in Topkhana. 'Top' means cannon and Topkhana means armoury. It is a Turkish word. In the year 1840 the cantonment was transferred to Ramna, Begunbari, then to Lalbagh Fort.
