Rugby Town Football Club is a football club based in Rugby, Warwickshire, which plays in the . It is nicknamed ''The Valley'', and plays its home matches at Butlin Road. It was originally named New Bilton Juniors and renamed four times. First, in 1956, to Valley Sports. The next time was in 1971 to Valley Sports Rugby, or simply VS Rugby, then in 2000 to Rugby United, and again for the most recent time to Rugby Town F.C. in 2005. History Formed by Keith Coughlan and under the name of New Bilton Juniors, the Valley played its first friendly match in 1955. Rugby, Warwickshire
Rugby is a market town in eastern Warwickshire, England, close to the River Avon. In the 2021 census its population was 78,125, making it the second-largest town in Warwickshire. It is the main settlement within the larger Borough of Rugby which has a population of 114,400 (2021). The 2012–13 season was the 110th in the history of the Southern League, which is an English football competition featuring semi-professional and amateur clubs from the South West, South Central and Midlands of England and South Wales. Billy Jeffrey
William Jeffrey (born 25 October 1956) is a Scottish former footballer who played for Oxford United, Blackpool, Northampton Town and Kettering Town. During his spell at Oxford, he played 314 league games, and he is thirteenth highest in the overall list of appearances. After retirement, Jeffrey has been assistant manager twice, and has managed Irthlingborough Diamonds, Stamford, Rugby Town and Banbury United. Blackpool Jeffrey made his debut for Sam Ellis' Blackpool on 2 October 1982, in a 2–0 victory over Darlington at Bloomfield Road. Craig Justin Herbert (born 9 November 1975) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Barwell. Career Herbert began his career as an apprentice with Torquay United, but was one of five trainees who left Plainmoor under a cloud on 23 February 1994. Filbert Street was a football stadium in Leicester, England, which served as the home of Leicester City F.C. from 1891 until 2002. Although officially titled the City Business Stadium in the early 1990s, it remained known almost exclusively by its address, like many English football stadiums.
