''Ruta graveolens'', commonly known as rue, common rue or herb-of-grace, is a species of '' Ruta'' grown as an ornamental plant and herb. It is native to the Balkan Peninsula. It is grown throughout the world in gardens, especially for its bluish leaves, and sometimes for its tolerance of hot and dry soil conditions. It is also cultivated as a culinary herb, and to a lesser extent as an insect repellent and incense. Etymology The specific epithet ''graveolens'' refers to the strong-smelling leaves.J. D. The 8th arrondissement of Paris (''VIIIe arrondissement'') is one of the 20 arrondissements of the capital city of France. In spoken French, the arrondissement is colloquially referred to as ''le huitième'' ("the eighth"). Louis-Charles Greffulhe (9 February 1814 – 27 September 1888) was a French count and politician. He was the eldest son of Jean-Henry-Louis Greffulhe and his wife, Marie-Françoise-Célestine-Gabrielle de Vintimille du Luc. Georges Hugon
Georges Hugon (23 July 1904 – 19 June 1980) was a French composer. He is the father of actress Sophie Daumier. His compositional output includes several chamber works, the ballet ''La Reine de Saba'' (1933, dedicated to Gustave Flaubert), two completed symphonies (1941 and 1949), and the unfinished symphony ''Prometheus''. Born in Paris, he studied with Georges Caussade, Paul Dukas, Jean Gallon, and Isidore Philipp at the Conservatoire de Paris. He won premier prix awards from the conservatoire in piano (1921), harmony (1921), and composition (1930). He was awarded a medal for composition by the Blumenthal Foundation in 1930. From 1934-1940 he served as director of the Conservatoire de Boulogne-sur-Mer. He was appointed professor of solfège at the Conservatoire de Paris in 1941, and in 1948 also began teaching courses in harmony. Reynaldo Hahn
Reynaldo Hahn (; 9 August 1874 – 28 January 1947) was a Venezuelan-born French composer, conductor, music critic, and singer. He is best known for his songs – ''mélodies'' – of which he wrote more than 100. Hahn was born in Caracas but his family moved to Paris when he was a child, and he lived most of his life there. Following the success of his song "''Si mes vers avaient des ailes''" (If my verses had wings), written when he was aged 14, he became a prominent member of ''fin de siècle'' French society. Among his closest friends were Sarah Bernhardt and Marcel Proust. After the First World War, in which he served in the army, Hahn adapted to new musical and theatrical trends and enjoyed successes with his first opérette, ''Ciboulette'' (1923) and a collaboration with Sacha Guitry, the musical comedy ''Mozart (comédie musicale), Mozart'' (1926).
