Rudolph Rothe
Rudolph Rothe (18 October 1802 – 30 January 1877) was a Danish landscape architect who was awarded the high-ranking title of ''etatsråd'' for his achievements. Talented in both the practical and theoretical aspects of landscape gardening, he exerted considerable influence on the development of the art in Denmark. Early life After apprenticeships in Frederiksberg Park and Rosenborg Gardens, he took the gardening examination in 1821. He became assistant gardener in Copenhagen's Botanical Garden (1821–1823) before qualifying in botany and botanical gardening in 1823. Career From 1828 to 1833, he performed the duties both of private secretary and palace gardener for A.W. Moltke at Bregentved. He was later employed as landscape architect at Fredensborg Palace (1833–1849). He also contributed to the development of Søndermarken. Asminderød Church
Asminderød Church (Danish: Asminderød Kirke) is a parish church in Asminderød, now part of Fredensborg, Fredensborg Municipality som 40 km north of central Copenhagen, Denmark. History A small Romanesque church was built at the site in the first half of the 12th century. It was later in the century expanded westwards. The thick granite walls indicate that they may already then have carried a tower. The current tower and the cross vaulted ceiling of the nave date from the 15th century. The porch on the north side of the church was constructed in the first half of the 13th century and the chancel was expanded to its current size in around 1500. The southern side nave was constructed in brick in 1736. The small sacresty was added in 1839. Jægersborg Dyrehave
Dyrehaven (Danish 'The Deer Park'), officially Jægersborg Dyrehave, is a forest park north of Copenhagen. It covers around . Dyrehaven is noted for its mixture of huge, ancient oak trees and large populations of red and fallow deer. In July 2015, it was one of the three forests included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed as Par force hunting landscape in North Zealand. All entrances to the park have a characteristic red gate; one of the most popular entrances is Klampenborg gate, close to Klampenborg station. All the entrance gates have an identical gate house attached to them, which serve as the residences of the forest wardens. Dyrehaven is maintained as a natural forest, with the emphasis on the natural development of the woods over commercial forestry. Old trees are felled only if they are a danger to the public. Danish Culture Canon
The Danish Culture Canon ( da, Kulturkanonen) consists of 108 works of cultural excellence in eight categories: architecture, visual arts, design and crafts, film, literature, music, performing arts, and children's culture. An initiative of Brian Mikkelsen in 2004, it was developed by a series of committees under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Culture in 2006–2007 as "a collection and presentation of the greatest, most important works of Denmark's cultural heritage." Each category contains 12 works although music contains 12 works of score music and 12 of popular music and the literature section's 12th item is an anthology of 24 works. Fredensborg
Fredensborg () is a railway town located in Fredensborg Municipality, North Zealand, some 30 kilometres north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is most known for Fredensborg Palace, one of the official residences of the Danish Royal Family. As of 1 January 2022, the town had a population of 8,965. History The earliest settlement in the area was the village of Asminderød. The town of Fredensborg emerged outside Fredensborg Palace, which was completed in 1722. Søndermarken
Søndermarken ( lit. "The Southern Field") is a park in Frederiksberg on the border to Valby and the Carlsberg area in Copenhagen, Denmark. It shares much of its history with Frederiksberg Gardens from which it is separated only by Roskildevej. Cisternerne—an underground venue for art exhibitions in the former cisterns—are located inside the park. History Søndermarken was founded and landscaped at the same time as Frederiksberg Gardens. A landscape architect is a person who is educated in the field of landscape architecture. The practice of landscape architecture includes: site analysis, site inventory, site planning, land planning, planting design, grading, storm water management, sustainable design, construction specification, and ensuring that all plans meet the current building codes and local and federal ordinances. Fredensborg Palace ( da, Fredensborg Slot; ) is a palace located on the eastern shore of Lake Esrum (Danish, ''Esrum Sø'') in Fredensborg on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in Denmark. Bregentved
Bregentved is a manor house located 3 km east of Haslev on the Danish island of Zealand. It has been owned by the Moltke family since the middle of the 18th century. History Early history The first known reference to Bregentved is from 1319 when King Eric VI of Denmark passed the estate to Roskilde Abbey. From the end of the 14th century the property was owned by a succession of aristocratic families, including that of Krognos in the 16th century, until 1718 when it was acquired by King Frederick IV. In the eighteenth century Bregentved was in consecutive Birks, so had separate legal jurisdiction from Haslev Sogn (parish) and old Ringsted Herred (hundred).
