Rua General Urquiza (Portuguese for General Urquiza Street) is located in the neighbourhood of Leblon, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The street is perpendicular to Leblon’s beach, starting in the Avenue ''Delphin Moreira'' and finishing in the staircase that gives access to the ''Capitao Cesar de Andrade'' street. It intersects with ''General San Martin'' avenue, ''Ataulfo de Paiva'' avenue, ''Professor Artur Ramos'' street, ''João de Barros'' street, ''Humberto de Campos'' street, ''Dias Ferreira'' street, ''Desembargador Alfredo Russel'' street and ''Antero de Quental'' square. Justo José De Urquiza
Justo José de Urquiza y García (; October 18, 1801 – April 11, 1870) was an Argentine general and politician who served as president of the Argentine Confederation from 1854 to 1860. Life Justo José de Urquiza y García was born in Entre Ríos, the son of José Narciso de Urquiza Álzaga, born in Castro Urdiales, Spain, and María Cándida García González, a Creole of Buenos Aires. He was governor of Entre Ríos during the government of Juan Manuel de Rosas, governor of Buenos Aires with powers delegated from the other provinces. Rosas presented a resignation to his charge frequently, but only as a political gesture, counting that the other governments would reject it. However, in 1851, resentful of the economic and political dominance of Buenos Aires, Urquiza accepted Rosas' resignation and resumed for Entre Rios the powers delegated in Buenos Aires. Leblon
Leblon (Portuguese: /leˈblõ/) is a neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is also the name of the local beach. The neighborhood is located in the South Zone of the city, between Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, Morro Dois Irmãos and the Jardim de Alah channel, bordering the Gávea, Ipanema, Lagoa, and Vidigal neighborhoods. It is regarded as a very affluent area, having the most expensive price per residential square meter in Latin America. Leblon began as a quilombo of escaped slaves created by a Portuguese abolitionist landowner. Etymology The neighborhood is named for Carlos Leblon, a whaling empresario of French origin who possessed a chácara in the region since 1845.
