Royal George (East Indiaman)
Six vessels with the name ''Royal George'' made voyages for the British East India Company, and so may be referred to as East Indiamen. The company actually owned one, four were on long-term charter, and one was a one-voyage charter. Timothy Hackworth (22 December 1786 – 7 July 1850) was an English steam locomotive engineer who lived in Shildon, County Durham, England and was the first locomotive superintendent of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. Youth and early work Timothy Hackworth was born in Wylam in 1786, five years after his fellow railway pioneer George Stephenson had been born in the same village. Hackworth was the eldest son of John Hackworth who occupied the position of foreman blacksmith at Wylam Colliery until his death in 1804; the father had already acquired a considerable reputation as a mechanical worker and boiler maker. At the end of his apprenticeship in 1810 Timothy took over his father's position. Royal George, Tasmania
Royal George is a rural locality in the local government areas (LGA) of Northern Midlands (46%), Break O'Day (27%) and Glamorgan-Spring Bay (27%) in the Central, North-east and South-east LGA regions of Tasmania. The locality is about south-east of the town of Longford. The 2016 census recorded a population of 45 for the state suburb of Royal George. It is a village in northeast Tasmania on the St Pauls River. At the , Royal George had a population of 127. It was a mining village, with the mine and locality named after one of the Royal Navy vessels named from the 19th century. HMS ''Royal George'' was under the command of Captain Robert Hepburn during the Napoleonic Wars Captain Hepburn settled nearby at Roy's Hill in 1828. George Royal
George Royal (1961–1981) was a Canadian Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse. Background George Royal was a bay horse foaled in Cloverdale, British Columbia. He was sired by Dark Hawk out of the mare Polly Bashaw. His great-grandsire was Hyperion, son of the English Triple Crown Champion Gainsborough. He was originally owned by Robert Hall and Ernie Hammond and trained by Robert W. Hall. Racing career The colt began racing at two at Vancouver's Exhibition Park, winning four of his eight starts. Although a winner of nine consecutive stakes races at age three, he received little notice in Canada in 1964 as a result of Northern Dancer becoming the first Canadian-bred to win the Kentucky Derby.
