Roxana Hayward Vivian (December 9, 1871 – May 31, 1961) was an American mathematics professor.. Early life and education Roxana Hayward Vivian was born to Roxana Nott and Robert Hayward Vivian on December 9, 1871, in Hyde Park, Boston, Massachusetts. She went to Hyde Park High School and then, from 1890 to 1894, to Wellesley College where she graduated in Greek and mathematics. Career and research After four years as a high school teacher in suburban Boston, Vivian started post-graduate study at the University of Pennsylvania, where she took a PhD in mathematics in 1901 with a thesis on "Poles of a Right Line with Respect to a Curve of the Order ''n''". Oneonta, New York
Oneonta ( ) is a city in southern Otsego County, New York, United States. It is one of the northernmost cities of the Appalachian Region. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Oneonta had a population of 13,079. Its nickname is "City of the Hills." While the word "oneonta" is of undetermined origin, it is popularly believed to mean "place of open rocks" in the Mohawk language. Rye High School is a public high school in Rye, New York. Rye High School is the only high school in the Rye City School District. It shares a building with Rye Middle School. History The school is accredited by the New York State Department of Education and the Middle States Association. The school is ranked the 96th best high school in the US according to Newsweek's Ranking of the top 500 high schools in the US as of 2015. Due to the abundance of garnets discovered during construction of the school, this precious gem became the adopted mascot.
