Rowing At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Coxless Pair
The Men's coxless pair competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London took place are at Dorney Lake which, for the purposes of the Games venue, is officially termed Eton Dorney. Competition format The format of the competition was determined by how many boats are competing as at the entry deadline at the beginning of July. With 13 boats in with heats, the best boats qualify directly for the semi-finals. All other boats progress to the repechage round, which offers a second chance to qualify for the semi-finals. The best three boats in each of the two semi-finals qualify for final A, which determines places 1–6 (including the medals). Eton Dorney
Dorney Lake (also known as Eton College Rowing Centre, and as Eton Dorney as a 2012 Summer Olympics venue) is a purpose-built rowing lake in England. It is near the village of Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and is around 3 km (2 miles) west of Windsor and Eton, close to the River Thames. The lake is privately owned and financed by Eton College, which spent £17 million developing it. Additional grants, totalling £500,000, were obtained from Sport England, UK Sport, the DCMS and SEEDA in order to build the lake's finish tower. The project was completed in 2006, after 10 years of construction. Jarosław Godek (born 5 August 1981 in Szubin, Poland) is a Polish rower. He finished 6th in the men's coxless four at the 2004 Summer Olympics. James Marburg
James Marburg (born 27 December 1982) is an Australian retired rower. He is a dual Olympian, Olympic silver medallist and has represented Australia at five World Rowing Championships. Education Marburg attended St Patrick's College, Ballarat. He undertook undergraduate studies at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and legal studies at University of Melbourne. Club and national rowing Marburg's senior rowing was done from the Melbourne University Boat Club. Scott Frandsen (born July 21, 1980, in Kelowna, British Columbia) is a Canadian rower of Danish and Swedish descent. Biography Born in Kelowna, British Columbia, he began rowing at age 16 at Brentwood College (High School), in British Columbia, Canada. He rowed for four years at the University of California, Berkeley. His freshman boat in 1999, coached by Craig Amerkhanian finished second at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association championship, which serves as the national championship race for men's collegiate rowing in the United States. David C D Calder (born May 21, 1978) is a Canadian rower. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia. He graduated from Brentwood College School (Mill Bay, British Columbia) in 1996.
