A book series is a sequence of books having certain characteristics in common that are formally identified together as a group. Book series can be organized in different ways, such as written by the same author, or marketed as a group by their publisher. Historiography
Historiography is the study of the methods of historians in developing history as an academic discipline, and by extension is any body of historical work on a particular subject. The historiography of a specific topic covers how historians have studied that topic using particular sources, techniques, and theoretical approaches. Scholars discuss historiography by topic—such as the historiography of the United Kingdom, that of WWII, the British Empire, early Islam, and China—and different approaches and genres, such as political history and social history. Beginning in the nineteenth century, with the development of academic history, there developed a body of historiographic literature. Alexander Lyon Macfie
Alexander Lyon Macfie is a British historian who has written widely on historiography and Orientalism. Macfie completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Manchester in the 1950s, later completing a PhD. Rolf Torstendahl
Rolf Torstendahl (born 9 January 1936, in Jönköping) is emeritus professor of history at the University of Uppsala where he has spent most of his career. He was Sven Warburg professor of history at the University of Stockholm from 1978 to 1980. Torstendahl has a special interest in bureaucratisation, the professionalism of engineers, and historiography. His book ''History-Making: The Intellectual and Social Formation of a Discipline'' (1996) describes the evolution of historical professionalism.
