Route 4 is an east–west primary state highway connecting rural Litchfield County to the Greater Hartford area of the U.S. state of Connecticut. It runs from the town of Sharon to the town of West Hartford. Route description Route 4 begins at the junction of Route 41 and Route 343 in Sharon as a rural, minor arterial road. In Cornwall, it briefly overlaps with US 7 to cross the Housatonic River on the Cornwall Bridge. Farther east in Cornwall, it intersects with Routes 125, 43, and 128 before crossing into Goshen. In Goshen, it meets Route 63 at a roundabout in the center of town. After entering Torrington, the road becomes more of a principal arterial road upon meeting the southern end of Route 272. After skirting the northern edge of downtown, it meets the Route 8 freeway at exit 44 and briefly overlaps with US 202 just east of the interchange. Route 69 is a primary north–south state highway in the U.S. state of Connecticut connecting the city of New Haven to the city of Bristol in the western part of Greater Hartford, passing through Greater Waterbury along the way. The route extends north of Bristol as a secondary route into the town of Burlington. Route 69 is in total length. Burlington is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. Situated at the foot of the Berkshires and bordering the Farmington River, Burlington is a scenic hill town, rural in nature, located west of Hartford. Connecticut Route 72
Route 72 is a state highway in the western part of the Greater Hartford area. Route 72 is an L-shaped route with a north–south section in Plymouth and Harwinton and an east–west section from Bristol to New Britain. Route 72 is a freeway from Route 9 in New Britain to Route 372 in Plainville. Although ConnDOT logs it as a north-south route, it is signed as east-west with the exception of signage on route 4 at its northwest terminus for route 72 south. The plan to extend the highway through the Forestville section of Bristol as a four-lane boulevard is complete. The construction project broke ground on October 15, 2007 and was completed in the spring of 2011. The contractor for the project was Manafort Brothers, based out of Plainville. It follows a northeasterly and southwesterly direction stretching from Delaware to Maine, also traveling through the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Route 8 is a state highway in Connecticut that runs north–south from Bridgeport, through Waterbury, all the way to the Massachusetts state line where it continues as Massachusetts Route 8. Most of the highway is a four-lane freeway but the northernmost is a two-lane surface road. Route description Route 8 begins at Interstate 95 (I-95) exit 27A in Bridgeport. Route description Route 272 begins at an intersection with Route 4 in West Torrington and heads northwest along the West Branch Naugatuck River and Hall Meadow Brook to Goshen. In Goshen, it continues northwest along Hall Meadow Brook past Hall Meadow State Park and across the northeastern corner of the town to Norfolk.
