Rouge-Matawin Wildlife Reserve
The Rouge-Matawin Wildlife Reserve (French: ''Réserve faunique Rouge-Matawin'') is a Quebec Wildlife Reserve located to the north of Mont-Tremblant National Park, in Quebec, Canada. Geography This reserve covers unorganized of Lac-de-la-Maison-de-Pierre in the Antoine-Labelle Regional County Municipality. Territory of the reserve straddles under the administrative regions of Lanaudière and Laurentides. In addition to the Mont-Tremblant National Park, the Rouge-Matawin Wildlife Reserve is bordered by ZECs of Maison-de-Pierre, Boulé and Collin. This reserve is divided between two watersheds: in the west, Rouge River and its tributaries; in northeast, the Matawin River and its tributaries. The reserve is bounded to the west by the Rouge River. Rouge River (Quebec)
The Rouge River (English: Red River) is a river flowing in the Laurentides, in the municipality of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, in the Argenteuil Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Laurentides, in the west of Quebec, in western Quebec, Canada. This river takes its source at Lac de la Fougère and flows south to empty into the Ottawa River near Pointe-au-Chêne and flows north of Mont Tremblant, of which it is a tributary of the left bank. It is in the Laurentides, about halfway between Ottawa and Montreal. Its name is derived from the reddish tint of its sandbanks. The river is a popular destination for whitewater rafting. The Zec Boullé is a " zone d'exploitation contrôlée" (controlled harvesting area) in the unorganized territories of Lac-Matawin and Baie-de-la-Bouteille, in Matawinie Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Lanaudière, Quebec, Canada. The main economic activities of the area are forestry and tourist activities. This zec is administered by "Association Chasse et Pêche Boullé inc". Geography Zec Boullé is located in a forested area northwest of the Zec Collin in the unorganized territory of Lake Matawin. Saint-Michel-des-Saints, Quebec
Saint-Michel-des-Saints is a municipality in the Matawinie Regional County Municipality of Quebec, Canada. Agriculture, forestry, recreation, and tourism have been the main activities found within this region. History In 1863, Thomas-Léandre Brassard settled near the falls of Pine Lake (''Lac des Pins'') where he built a mill and a manor. Three years later, there were 136 inhabitants. In 1870, the post office opened. By 1883, the Parish of Saint-Michel-des-Saints was officially formed and followed two years later in 1885 by the formation of the parish municipality. The name Saint-Michel-des-Saints, chosen by Ignace Bourget at the suggestion of Father Brassard, honours Michael de Sanctis who lived from 1591 to 1625. In 1929, the dam on the Matawin River was constructed that would result in the formation of the Taureau Reservoir. This reservoir drowned the neighbouring village of Saint-Ignace-du-Lac (founded in 1877) and so that municipality was annexed by Saint-Michel-des-Saints ... Saint-Guillaume-Nord () is the southernmost unorganized territory in the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Matawinie Regional County Municipality. Its only community is the hamlet of Saint-Guillaume-Nord, located at confluence of the Matawin River and Cypress Creek, a dozen miles west of Saint-Michel-des-Saints and just east of the north-east entrance to the Mont-Tremblant National Park. History The hamlet of Saint-Guillaume-Nord was formed in the early twentieth century, when some thirty lots were granted for agricultural purposes in the geographic Township of Gouin. A mission was established on January 21, 1916, dedicated to St. William (French: ''saint Guillaume''). Saint-Donat is a township municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec, part of the Regional County Municipality of Matawinie, within the larger administrative region of Lanaudière.
