Rosston is a small farming and ranching unincorporated area, community in southwestern Cooke County, Texas, Cooke County, Texas, United States. It lies along Farm to Market Road 922, FM 922 along Clear Creek, midway between Forestburg, Texas, Forestburg in Montague County, Texas, Montague County and Era, Texas, Era in Cooke County. In 2000, Rosston reported a population of 110. The community boasts a general store, a volunteer fire department, two church buildings, and several residences, as well as a wealth of agricultural enterprises. Just east of the town, there is the Liberman Broadcasting Tower Era, one of earth's tallest structures, and as of May 2007 was the tallest structure in Texas. Liberman Broadcasting Tower Era
Liberman Broadcasting Tower, Era, is a 2,000-foot-tall (609.6 m) guyed mast located at 33°29'05.5" N and 97°24'44.8" W in Cooke County, Texas, USA. It was built in 2006 and is used for emergency communication and commercial radio broadcasting. Currently, it is used for storm tracking communications and primarily serves as the transmitter for KNOR-FM, 93.7 “La Raza,” a Spanish-language music station playing “ Norteño” music (roughly comparable to Contemporary Country in English). Situated on a private ranch about 7 miles west of Era (north of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex), Liberman Broadcasting Tower, Era, is one of earth's tallest structures (tied for sixth with several other guyed masts); and as of May 2007 was the tallest structure in Texas. Sam Bass (outlaw)
Sam Bass (July 21, 1851 ‒ July 21, 1878) was a 19th-century American train robber, outlaw, and outlaw gang leader. Notably, he was a member of a gang of six that robbed a Union Pacific train in Nebraska of $60,000 in newly minted gold from San Francisco, California. To date, this is the biggest train robbery ever committed in the USA. He died as a result of wounds sustained in a gun battle with law enforcement officers. Early life Samuel Bass was born in Mitchell, Indiana, on July 21, 1851; the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Jane (Sheeks) Bass. His father was a member of the mixed-race Bass family of North Carolina. Jacksboro is a city in Jack County, Texas, in the United States. Its population was 4,511 at the 2010 census. U.S. Highways 281 and 380, and Texas State Highways 114 and 199 intersect at Jacksboro, which is the county seat of Jack County. History Jacksboro was first settled in the 1850s, with newcomers attracted by land offers from the Texas Emigration and Land Office. Originally called "Mesquiteville", the community grew up along the banks of Lost Creek and spread out over the pastureland between Lost Creek and the waters of the West Fork of Keechi Creek. Gainesville is a city in and the county seat of Cooke County, Texas, United States. Its population was 16,002 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Texoma region and is an important Agri-business center. History Founded in 1850, the city of Gainesville was established on a tract of land donated by Mary E. Clark.
