Ross Sinclair (water Polo)
Ross Sinclair (born April 12, 1985) is a former professional American water polo player and current water polo head coach. Playing career Youth and collegiate Sinclair was born in Laguna Beach, California and played water polo at Newport Harbor High School. At Newport Harbor, he won the CIF Championship in 2000 and was twice named Sea View League Most Valuable Player in 2002 and 2003. He was also named Second Team All-CIF Southern Section in 2002 and 2003. Following graduation, he enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara. While in Santa Barbara, he played for the UCSB men's water polo team from 2003 to 2007. He was named a Third Team All American his final two seasons in 2006 and 2007, which made him the 45th UCSB men's water polo player to earn All American status and the first under Wolf Wigo. Australian National Water Polo League
The Australian Water Polo League is the premier Australian domestic water polo competition. The men's league began in 1990 and the women's league started in 2004. Ten clubs compete in the league, each fielding a women's and a men's team. As of 2021 five clubs are based in Sydney and one each in Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle, Newcastle and Perth. The first history of the sport in Australia was launched in February 2009, under the title 'Water Warriors: Chronicle of Australian Water Polo', by Dr. Tracy Rockwell. The 592-page publication features over 1,300 images and is an in-depth reference on water polo in Australia from its first match in 1879 to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Wolf Wigo
Wolf Wigo (b. May 8, 1973) is an American water polo player and water polo coach. He has played competitive water polo at the national level since age 13. Wigo was a four-year All-America collegiate water polo player and led his Stanford University team to two consecutive NCAA Championships in 1993 and 1994. A member of the U.S. National Polo Team since 1993, Wigo competed in the Olympic Games in 1996, 2000, and 2004. Since 2005, he has been the head coach of the UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) men's water polo program. In 2008 he began coaching the UCSB women's water polo team. Early life At an early age, Wigo and his sister would travel to a community pool on the West Side in New York City and compete with the Gotham Aqua Kings, having been inspired to swim by his parents who were also swimmers.
