Rosenfeld or Rosenfeldt is a former provincial electoral division in Manitoba, Canada. It was located in Rosenfeld, Manitoba. The district was first appeared in the 1888 election and lasted until 1903 when the riding was re-distributed into Rhineland. Rhineland (electoral District)
Rhineland is a former provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was created by redistribution in 1892, and eliminated in 1914, when it merged into the new riding of Morden and Rhineland. It was re-established in 1949, and eliminated again in 1989. As its name implies, Rhineland was home to several German settlers, many of whom were Mennonites. It is named after the Rhineland region of Germany. The Legislative Assembly of Manitoba (french: Assemblée législative du Manitoba) is the deliberative assembly of the Manitoba Legislature in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Fifty-seven members are elected to this assembly at provincial general elections, all in single-member constituencies with first-past-the-post voting. Bills passed by the Legislative Assembly are given royal assent by the King of Canada in Right of Manitoba, represented by the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba. The Manitoba Legislative Building is located in central Winnipeg. The Premier of Manitoba is Heather Stefanson and the current Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba is Myrna Driedger; both of whom belong to the Progressive Conservative Party. Enoch Winkler
Enoch Winkler (January 2, 1852 – November 1, 1928) was a farmer, merchant and political figure in Manitoba. He represented Rosenfeldt from 1888 to 1899 in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Liberal. He was born in Waterloo County, Canada West, the son of David J. Winkler and the brother of Valentine Winkler. Winkler came west in 1874, working as a translator for a group of Plautdietsch speaking Mennonites emigrating to Manitoba. In 1875, he moved to Emerson, where he set up a lumber business. He later settled in Gretna. In 1878, he married Helen Stewart. Winkler was reeve for the Rural Municipality of Rhineland and served as mayor of Gretna from 1898 to 1899 and in 1901. He was defeated when he ran for reelection to the Manitoba assembly in 1899. Winkler moved to California around 1908 but returned to Winnipeg a year and a half later. He died at home in Winnipeg at the age of 76. William Hespeler
William Hespeler (December 29, 1830 – April 18, 1921), born ''Wilhelm'', was a German-Canadian businessman, immigration agent, and member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. He served as Speaker of the Legislature and as honorary consul of Germany to Winnipeg and the Northwest Territories. He was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle for his services to Germany. Early life Hespeler was born as Wilhelm Hespeler in Baden-Baden, Grand Duchy of Baden, the son of Georg Johann and Anna Barbara (Wick) Hespeler. His mother was a granddaughter of Count Károly Andrássy de Csíkszentkirály et Krasznahorka (1723–1795), a Hungarian nobleman, and his father was a businessman with the house of Mayer Amschel Rothschild. Hespeler was educated at the Polytechnic Institute at Karlsruhe (likely what is now Karlsruhe Institute of Technology).
