Rosemary Hume
Rosemary Ethel Hume (1907 – 1984) was an English cook and writer. She taught at ''Le Cordon Bleu'' cookery school in London, and co-devised coronation chicken in 1953. Life Hume was born in Sevenoaks. She was one of the first British people to be trained in Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She was taught by Henri-Paul Pellaprat. She had not done well at school as the family moved around following her father, Colonel Charles Vernon Hume, who had worked in India Colonel Charles Vernon, C. Hayavadana Rao, The Indian Biographical Dictionary, 1915 and now worked in military intelligence. Hume showed an interest in cookery. In 1931 she and Dione Lucas set up a cookery school in London as they had both trained in Paris. They had a flat in Chelsea and they would reputedly serve their students' creations to passing trade at chairs and tables on the pavement. Henri-Paul Pellaprat
Henri-Paul Pellaprat (; Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, 1869–1954) was a French chef, founder with the journalist Marthe Distel of Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris. He was the author of ''La cuisine familiale et pratique'' and other classic French cookery texts. He worked from the age of twelve as a pastry boy and then cooked at many of the most famous restaurants of the La Belle Époque Paris such as the Maison Dorée. He taught at l’École du Cordon bleu for 32 years; his students including Maurice Edmond Sailland, later known as Curnonsky, and Raymond Oliver. In 1966, after his death, his book ''L'Art Culinaire Moderne'' was translated into English and published for the American market under the name ''Modern French Culinary Art''. Dione Lucas
Dione Lucas (born Dione Wilson, 10 October 1909 – 18 December 1971) (pronounced dee-OH-nee) was an English chef, and the first female graduate of Le Cordon Bleu. Her father was the architect, jeweller and designer Henry Wilson, and her sister was the violinist Orrea Pernel (1906-1993). She married another architect, Colin Lucas (1906-1984). Life Dione Lucas was fundamental in establishing an extension of the famous Paris culinary school in London in the 1930s. She married the architect Colin Lucas. on 9 April 1930. In 1931 she and Rosemary Hume (with whom she has trained in Paris), set up a cookery school in Sloane Street, London, the interior of which was designed by Colin Lucas. Constance Spry (née Fletcher, previously Marr; 5 December 1886 – 3 January 1960) was a British educator, florist and author in the mid-20th century. Life Constance Fletcher was born in Derby in 1886, eldest child and only daughter of George and Henrietta Maria (née Dutton) Fletcher. After studying hygiene, physiology and district nursing in Ireland, she lectured on first aid and home care for the Irish ''Women's National Health Association''.
