Rose Musleah (also known as Miss Rose; born: January 1, 1911 Calcutta, India - died: December 8, 1985, California, United States) was an Indian theater and film actress of Jewish origin who played in Tollywood. She acted in silent films at first and later in talkies. Remembered as the "dancer actress" of silent cinema. Her films dealt with conflicts between tradition and individual choice. Biography Rose Musleah was born in 1911 in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in British India, the only child of a Jewish family of Baghdadi origin. Her father was the secretary of the Costa Rican consul in India. Rose had two cousins who were also actresses: Pramila (Esther Victoria Abraham) and Ramula ( Sophie Abraham). Jamshedji Framji Madan
Jamshedji Framji Madan (27 April 1857, Bombay – 28 June 1923), professionally known as J. F. Madan, was an Indian theatre and film magnate who was one of the pioneers of film production in India, an early exhibitor, distributor and producer of films and plays. He accumulated his wealth on the Parsi theatre district scene in Bombay in the 1890s where he owned two theatre companies. He moved to Calcutta in 1902 where he founded Elphinstone Bioscope Company, and began producing and exhibiting silent movies including Jyotish Sarkar's ''Bengal Partition Movement'' in 1905. He expanded his empire considerably after acquiring rights to Pathé Frères films. He produced ''Satyavadi Raja Harishchandra'' in 1917 and ''Bilwamangal'' in 1919. ''Hamari Betiyan'' also called ''Our Darling Daughters'' is a 1936 social Hindi film directed by R. S. Chowdhary. It was produced by Ardeshir Irani under his Imperial Film Company banner. ''Adhuri Kahani'' (The Unfinished Tale) is an Indian film directed by Chaturbuj Doshi released in 1939. Prithviraj Kapoor
Prithviraj Kapoor (born Prithvinath Kapoor; 3 November 1906 – 29 May 1972) was an Indian actor who is also considered to be one of the founding figures of Hindi cinema. He was associated with IPTA as one of its founding members and established the Prithvi Theatres in 1944 as a travelling theatre company based in Bombay. He was the patriarch of the Kapoor family of Hindi films, four generations of which, beginning with him, have played active roles in the Hindi film industry, with the youngest generation still active in Bollywood. His father, Basheshwar Nath Kapoor, also played a short role in his movie Awara. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 1969 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1971 for his contributions towards Indian cinema. Motilal Rajvansh (4 December 1910 – 17 June 1965) was an Indian actor and the winner of Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for ''Devdas (1955 film), Devdas'' (1955) and ''Parakh (1960 film), Parakh'' (1960). He is credited with being among Hindi cinema's first natural actors. He also directed the film ''Chhoti Chhoti Baten'' (1965), but died before its release.
