Rosa DeLauro
Rosa Luisa DeLauro (; born March 2, 1943) is an American politician who has been the United States House of Representatives, U.S. representative for since 1991. She is a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. The district is based in New Haven, Connecticut, New Haven and includes most of its suburbs. DeLauro is the Dean of the House, dean of United States congressional delegations from Connecticut, Connecticut's congressional delegation. In 2020, DeLauro was selected as chair of the United States House Committee on Appropriations, House Appropriations Committee for the 117th United States Congress, 117th Congress, succeeding Nita Lowey and becoming the second woman to hold the position. She co-chaired the Steering and Policy Committees of the United States House of Representatives, House Democratic Steering Committee from 2003 to 2021. The United States House Committee on Appropriations is a committee of the United States House of Representatives that is responsible for passing appropriation bills along with its Senate counterpart. The bills passed by the Appropriations Committee regulate expenditures of money by the government of the United States. As such, it is one of the most powerful committees, and its members are seen as influential.
