''Rosa'' 'Dame Judi Dench' (aka AUSquaker) is an apricot shrub rose cultivar, developed by British rose breeder David C. H. Austin in 2009 and introduced into the UK by David Austin Roses Limited (UK) in 2017. The rose was named in honour of legendary British actress, Dame Judi Dench. Description 'Dame Judi Dench' is a medium-tall bushy shrub rose, in height, with a spread. The rose has a strong tea fragrance. Its flowers are in diameter, with a cupped, ruffled, very full bloom form and a button eye. Bloom colour is apricot-orange with paler apricot outer petals. Flowers are carried in clusters. Hybrid tea is an informal horticultural classification for a group of garden roses. The first hybrid tea roses were created in France in the mid-1800s, by cross-breeding the large, floriferous Hybrid Perpetuals with the tall, elegant Tea roses. The Hybrid tea is the oldest class of Modern garden roses. Hybrid teas exhibit traits midway between their parents, being hardier than the often delicate Tea roses, and with a better ability for repeat-flowering than the more robust Hybrid Perpetuals. Abraham Darby (synonyms AUScot, Candy Rain, Country Darby tree) is a popular apricot Shrub rose cultivar which was introduced by David Austin in England in 1985. The English rose was bred by crossing the climber 'Aloha' with the floribunda 'Yellow Cushion' and is named after the industrialist Abraham Darby, the constructor of the first iron bridge, which is situated less than 15 km from David Austin's nurseries.
