Rory Bosio
Rory Bosio is an American ultramarathon runner. She is specializes in mountain running, and won the 2013 and 2014 Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc. Bosio is a pediatric intensive care nurse from Truckee, California, United States. She grew up in Truckee attending North Tahoe High School, where she ran her first 1-mile race at the age of 8. In 8th grade, she won her local cross country championships, and later spent time hiking and mountain climbing around the Sierra Nevada. In 2007, she graduated from the University of Davis, California. Bosio spent 10 months in 2015 filming for the reality documentary series Boundless for its third season on Travel+Escape Channel and Esquire Network. Trail Running
Trail running is a sport-activity which combines running, and, where there are steep gradients, hiking, that is run "on any unpaved surface". It is similar to both mountain and fell running (also known as hill running). Mountain running may, however, include paved sections. Trail running normally takes place in warm climates, or on good paths, or tracks which are relatively easy to follow, and does not necessarily involve the significant amounts of ascent, or need for navigating skills, normal in fell running. Unlike road running and track running it generally takes place on hiking trails, often in mountainous terrain, where there can be much larger ascents and descents. Tierra del Fuego (, ; Spanish for "Land of the Fire", rarely also Fireland in English) is an archipelago off the southernmost tip of the South American mainland, across the Strait of Magellan. The Way Too Cool 50K Endurance Run is an annual ultramarathon run in the Sierra Nevada, that starts and ends in the town of Cool. The race takes place in early March, and was first held in 1990. Course Most of the course is held on single-track trails and fire roads. Western States Endurance Run
The Western States Endurance Run, known commonly as the Western States 100, is a 100.2-mile (161 km) ultramarathon that takes place on California's Sierra Nevada Mountains trails each year on the last full weekend of June. The race starts at the base of the Palisades Tahoe ski resort in Olympic Valley and finishes at the Placer High School track in Auburn, California. The terrain is quite rugged, frequently showcasing snow on the highest passes and record hot temperatures throughout the course. Runners ascend a cumulative total of 18,090 feet (5500 m) and descend a total of 22,970 feet (7000 m) on mountain trails before reaching the finish. History In 1989, CamelBak founder Michael Eidson was competing in the Hotter 'n Hell 100 bicycle race in Wichita Falls, Texas. Eidson, who was an emergency medical technician by trade, filled an IV bag with water and stuck it in a tube sock. He then pinned the tube sock to the back of his jersey, pulled the tube over his shoulder, and secured it with a clothes pin. Boundless TV
Boundless is a Canadian reality documentary series shown on Travel+Escape Channel and the Esquire Network. The series follows Simon Donato and Paul Trebilcock as they compete in the toughest endurance races on the planet. Series The series covers Donato and Trebilcock as they compete in eight endurance events worldwide over five months, and arose from the documentary film ''Go Death Racer'', produced by the same team. The first season of ten episodes premiered in February 2013 on the Travel+Escape Channel in Canada and was also shown on the Esquire Network in the United States later that year.
